WWE Monday Night Raw: 13 October, 2014 - Superstar Ratings

Its pretty hard to tell whether the October 13 edition of Monday Night Raw was a success or not. On one side WWE gave away a main event which will headline some pay-per-view in the near future and on the other side, that same match failed to live up to its potential.Randy Orton and Dolph Ziggler gave a great match in the midcard while WWE added two matches to Hell in a Cell. The prospect of seeing Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins at the pay-per-view inside a Hell in a Cell is mouthwatering but the Cena Orton match once again proves to be a turn off.Big Show and Rusev pushed forward their feud as well when Sheamus got a lesson from the Stunt double.Nothing memorable came from the Divas section of the roster as well concluding a week which was good at points and bad at others. Here is a look at who all shined in the show with this weeks Superstar Ratings.

#15 Layla 5.5

Having Layla to team up with AJ seemed to be a weird choice since she is known to be involved in the tag team with Summer Rae. Layla didn’t have a big role in the match where AJ stole the spotlight and the former divas champions was confined to jobbing to the current one post match as well.

#14 Damien Sandow 5.5

Sandow didn’t get time to wrestle a match on this week’s Raw but he felt his presence felt by helping Miz get a win over the Celtic Warrior. Sandow’s stunt double character is WWE’s best comic outing at the moment and they should try to grow it rather than staying rooted and safe.

#13 Dust Brothers 5.5

Solid performances that Dust Brothers give are undeniable. They are a treat to watch in between the ropes but the results aren’t going like they would’ve liked. The brothers are not getting booked like champions and this run will come back and bite the writers.

#12 AJ Lee 6

The crazy Divas Champion was once again projected as the lone wolf when she took out her tag team partner after the match. AJ and Paige’s storyline didn’t get any progress with this segment and match but AJ’s character evolved a bit as it is starting to confuse the fans due to its instability.

#11 Jack Swagger 6

Turning face has presented Jack Swagger with an array of new opponents with whom he has a good chemistry. The bout he had with Rollins this week on Raw wasn’t any different. Swagger lost the match but it was a good exposure for the former champion to be in ring with Rollins.

#10 Sheamus 6

After getting the upper hand over Miz and Sandow for a lot of weeks, the Celtic Warrior has finally recognized the duo as a threat to his United States Championship. Sheamus’ loss this week was just a part of moving the narrative forward and we could expect an entirely different result when the actual championship match takes place.

#9 Miz 6.5

Miz considers himself to be so big that he has his own stung double. However, it’s the same stunt double that is stealing the limelight from him at this point. He got a good win against Sheamus this week but it couldn’t have come without the help from Sandow which takes away the credibility.

#8 Rusev 6.5

Rusev made good time of the interval he got from Big Show but it was back to same Anti – American angle against Big Show. He got a disqualification win against the World’s largest athlete but got knocked out in the process which will be something he’ll find as a motivation.

#7 The Usos 6.5

The Usos got better of the Rhodes Brothers once again on Raw and this has made the tag team division a one lion jungle. Despite holding the championship, Rhodes Brothers are not getting a win while Usos continue to pile up their momentum without getting a title shot.

#6 The Big Show 6.5

After a small absence, Big Show resumed his feud with Rusev on Monday night Raw and came out on the top thanks to Mark Henry. Show was on the verge of passing out when Henry interfered and with that, WWE has opened up the possibility of the two giants going at it once again.

#5 Dolph Ziggler 7

Ziggler ended up on the losing side to Orton but it takes nothing away from him. The bout that he had with Orton was the best one of the night and proved to be another stage for Ziggler to showcase his in ring talents. There is no contender for his championship as things stand now which should be addressed at the earliest.

#4 Seth Rollins 7

Rollins wasn’t the centre figure this time around but he is still the protagonist in WWE’s top storyline. A good win against Jack Swagger helps Seth to build some momentum heading into Hell in a Cell where he will have to answer for betraying his brothers and breaking up the Shield.

#3 John Cena 7.5

It was a wise decision from the WWE to pull Cena out of the Ambrose – Rollins tussle but putting him in another match with Orton wasn’t an ideal choice. There is no denying about the star power that these two men have but they’ve already had a million matches before making this one least interesting.

#2 Randy Orton 8

Orton’s character took a big leap forward this week when he confronted Rollins. The Viper sees Rollins as a big threat to his run with the Authority and we are sure to see a match between the two in the future. The win against Ziggler was another high point for Orton but his Hell in a Cell match against Cena sure wouldn’t be.

#1 Dean Ambrose 8

The match that Ambrose had with Cena fell flat on the ground due to some bad booking. The Lunatic fringe coming out on top however the best part was since it lays the foundation for an epic encounter between Ambrose and Rollins at Hell in a Cell which is sure to be a show stealer.
