WWE Monday Night Raw: 20 October 2014 - Superstar Ratings

The 20 October edition of Monday Night Raw was WWE’s last chance to sell their Hell in a Cell pay-per-view. And though you’d expect the writers to screw up under such pressure, they did deliver a solid show at the Kansas City.It did have its fair share of boring moments but the ones that was needed to stand out, definetly stood out.A surprise return from Mick Foley was one of the high points as he did something that the writers couldn’t do in the past few weeks when he sold the Rollins – Ambrose match. The Cena – Orton match got a much needed stipulation as well while the rest of the card seemed random. A Solid outing to keep the summary short and sweet, here is a look at the Super

#15 AJ Lee 5.5

AJ Lee came into the match against Alicia Fox expecting another easy win but went out frustrated. The ‘Paige’ factor was haunting AJ from the start of the match and taking a loss before her big defense on Sunday wasn’t something that AJ wanted.

#14 Alicia Fox 6

The much anticipated Nation of Dominance angle involving Kofi Kingston, Xavier Woods and Big E is nowhere to be seen though the trio sticks together in live shows. The lack of direction made Big E a jobber this week and from being in Raw main events with John Cena to being a jobber to Rusev, it has been a painful drop.

#13 Sheamus 6

Sheamus is turning out to be the scape goat for pushing the Miz- Mizdow angle but the fans are well aware of the ending. The Celtic Warrior is sure to retain his championship at Hell in a Cell and he wouldn’t mind taking some falls before that.

#12 The Usos 6

There was nothing special for the Usos this week on Raw apart from the tag team title shot they got for Hell in a Cell. Taking a loss in the six man tag team match doesn’t hurt them any bit and are clear favorites to walk out of HIAC as the new champions.

#11 Dolph Ziggler 6

Ziggler might be the Intercontinental champion, but he is pretty much taking the loser’s path at the moment. Last week he took two big falls against Orton and Rollins respectively and this week, he started off with a loss against Cesaro which doesn’t look like a champion’s trait.

#10 Miz and Mizdow 6.5

Damien Sandow is doing such a great job with the stunt double character that it would be a sin to give the duo separate ratings. From a results point of view, it was a good week for the two but the underlying friction has started to show its true color which will make the angle more interesting.

#9 Dust Brothers 6.5

Finally, the WWE allowed their reigning tag team champions to get a win. It is certainly not going to do anything about the run that they’ve been having after Night of Champions, but something is always better than nothing when it comes to the wrestling business.

#8 Mick Foley 7

Well, it’s not every day that you get to rate Mick Foley and his appearance on Raw. There wouldn’t have been anyone better in the WWE alumni to sell a Hell in a Cell match than Foley. From now on, the fans would look into the Ambrose – Rollins match with more respect now that Foley shared how cruel the surroundings could be.

#7 Cesaro 7

Cesaro’s luck hasn’t changed in any way despite his win against Ziggler on Raw. The Swiss Superman looks set to challenge Ziggler at HIAC for the championship but the chances of him getting a win are slim since WWE doesn’t have the habit of pushing good talent.

#6 Kane 7

Kane’s win- loss ratio this year might be less impressive than the wrestling skills of John Cena but he is sticking around the right places. He has not match scheduled for Sunday which means that we could expect the Big Red Monster turning up and ruining some match at any point.

#5 Rusev 7

In an attempt to make Rusev look dominant, the writers fed him with Big E, who looked completely lost out there. The Bulgarian Brute sounding off words against Big Show was a good part in the segment and this is turning out to be an exciting affair against the expectations.

#4 John Cena 7

The Cenation leader was once again taking the back seat on Raw when he let his opponent at HIAC and the younger breed take centre stage. With the assurance of a title shot against Brock Lesnar being the stake, it would be a different Cena on Sunday.

#3 Randy Orton 7.5

With his RKO’s trending all around the internet, Orton was sure to get some limelight on Monday Night. He was literally on fire till the main event where he got curb stomped by Rollins. Orton now has to worry about Lesnar, Cena and Rollins after Raw which makes him an important asset in the roster.

#2 Dean Ambrose 7.5

The lunatic fringe showed off his promo skills once again when he dismantled the dummy Rollins. Sharing the ring with Mick Foley and getting the praise from the Hardcore Legend was a good thing for Ambrose who might just be the replacement that WWE have been looking for a long time.

#1 Seth Rollins 8

Rollins would go into Hell in a Cell with the best momentum he could have. He not only made the message clear to Dean Ambrose and John Cena, he also nailed down his Authority friend Orton to show that the veteran’s time is up. He was the biggest winner this week and would be looking to replicate the same on Sunday as well.
