WWE Monday Night Raw : 29 September, 2014 - Top 5 Moments of the Week

This week’s episode of Monday Night Raw had all the chances of getting doomed due to the place it was held. However, taking away a couple of segments, WWE stood firm and solid in CM Punk’s hometown, Chicago.Though it was expected to be another step that drew the fans closer to Hell in a Cell, no developments were made to build up the pay-per-view match card as the entire limelight focused on the war between rebels and the Authority. It was the best show after the Season premiere and this meant that there were many moments to cherish from this episode. Minus the slime, alligators and bulls, here are the top five moments of this week’s Monday Night Raw.

#5 Bries big win

Brie Bella faced Cameron and Eva Marie in a handicap match this week on Raw and though on the surface it looked like just another match, it was more than that.

Back when Brie was fired by Stephanie, she watched Nikki being put into similar matches. Nikki never had a win in those outings and the numbers game proved too much for her.

However, now that Brie overcame those odds to win the match, it is sure to give rise to some more tension between the twins.

Brie achieved what Nikki couldn’t and now that there is no AJ and Paige for the rescue, it would be small details like this which would make the feud more interesting for the WWE Universe.

#4 Show and the Russian Flag

Rusev has been built up as a credible anti – American by the WWE writers and alongside Lana, the Bulgarian brute has done everything in his power to push down the nation.

The tides turned this week in Chicago as it was Russia that ended up being in the receiving side. And the man who made that possible was the World’s Largest Athlete himself.

Big Show is proving to be a great opponent for Rusev at all levels and his attack of the Russian Flag was something different from what all the other opponents of Rusev have been doing so far.

With that said, once Rusev gets his win over Show, it would be his biggest one till date and WWE will be able to put Rusev into more meaningful feuds now that he has got wins over multiple former World Champions.

#3 Triple Threat ending

Any match involving Dolph Ziggler and Cesaro is sure to be a solid one these days. And adding in someone like Miz who flourishes due to character direction only made it a better scenario for the fans.

Miz was expected to be overshadowed by the other two great in ring performers, but the Awesome one kept his feet well in the race.

With stolen moves, counters and some high octane moves all around, there was some good action throughout the match but the ending deserves special credit.

Miz went on the top rope only to be met with an upper cut by Cesaro who then got knocked out with a super kick from Ziggler. Cesaro not getting pinned might be the opening that WWE is leaving in order to give the Swiss Superman more opportunities in the near future.

#2 Heyman making the message clear

One of the biggest criticisms that came out from the fans about last week’s Raw was Brock Lesnar’s absence. Everyone wanted to see how the beast would react to the ending at Night of Champions but was not given the opportunity to witness it.

This week wasn’t any different but at least there was Paul Heyman. Heyman’s presence somewhat covered up for the WWE champion and the evil genius made the message clear.

Lesnar isn’t happy about what Rollins did at NOC no matter what his excuses are and next week, the Beast would be seeking answers from Mr. Money in the bank.

It is going to be an intriguing storyline next week when a small wrong move from Rollins could turn Lesnar against the Authority.

#1 Ambroses promo

There are names like Brian Pillman, Steve Austin, Roddy Piper and Mick Foley. These are men who revolutionized the way in which promos were delivered and right now, WWE has Dean Ambrose in their roster to match up to these legendary names.

Once again, his promo was nothing short of intensity as the fans were invested heavily in each word that came out of his mouth.

He made fun of everything about the authority including Jamie Noble and Joey Mercury but delivered the message loud and clear when it mattered the most.

Apart from the childish slime part which should be restricted to Nickelodeon shows, his segments were worth a million dollar and Ambrose’s ascension as the biggest anti- hero in WWE seems to be well on track.
