WWE Monday Night Raw Preview: 20 October, 2014

Spring centre in Kansas City will play host to Monday Night Raw on October 20, 2014 in what will be the WWE’s last big stop before Hell in a Cell.Preparations for the pay-per-view haven’t been going well to be frank as the fans were seen unhappy about the decision to add another Cena- Orton match into the mix when it was clearly not necessary. And to make the matter even worse, it is rumored that this match would be closing the show instead of the Ambrose-Rollins one.Raw could be WWE’s only hope for showing that they have something good in store for Hell in a Cell and here are some of the things that the company would need to address on Raw this week.

#5 AJ, the lone wolf

The divas division has been held together by AJ Lee and Paige for nearly four months now. Their feud is that old and WWE has tried to add some freshness into the mix by introducing Alicia Fox as Paige’s new best friend while pushing AJ as a lone wolf.

Over the past few weeks, AJ was seen in an awkward situation when she was teamed up with random divas. This showed that AJ struggles to be a team player while Paige has no problems doing the same.

A match at Hell in a Cell would be the most probable choice but then also, the question arises about the usage of Alicia in the pay-per-view. WWE’s intentions for showing the contrast between the two divas were spot on but they still haven’t made it clear as to where the feud is heading.

#4 The place left in HIAC

With Hell in a Cell just one week away, the company has made five matches for the pay-per-view so far. This means that there are still many voids left in the match card waiting to be filled.

Names like Dolph Ziggler, the Usos, Dust Brothers, Cesaro and the Divas as mentioned earlier aren’t booked for the pay-per-view as things stand now and Raw will have to clear the air regarding this situation.

Ziggler gave two great matches last week and could go on to give another excellent bout if he gets the right opponent at HIAC. Cesaro is the front runner to get the pick while a returning Bray Wyatt would prove to be excellent as well.

The Dust Brothers have no other tag team in the division that they could face apart from the Usos but that match would find it hard to get the fans excited since it is the tag team version of the Orton-Cena match.

#3 Hogans in house

Hogan is nowhere near his prime but his name still draws the crowds. The Hulkster is scheduled to appear on Raw this week and hopefully it wouldn’t just be for the Network Promotions.

A couple of months back, the WWE put Hogan to good use to enhance the Cena – Lesnar feud and they should do something similar on Raw rather than letting Hogan kill time on live television.

Last week, Ric Flair and Jake ‘The Snake’ Roberts were also seen backstage on Raw tapings and Flair even recorded some video tapes which are still a mystery. Flair will also be in the arena for Raw meaning that the writers are cooking up something for the legends and it would be good to see as long as they stay away from getting involved in a match.

#2 Struggle to build a stale rivalry

Cena and Orton looks set to headline yet another pay-per-view with Hell in a Cell. The wrestlers will be doing the same with no buildup whatsoever due to the match only being a spin off from the Dean Ambrose – Seth Rollins feud.

Having this match as the show stopper tells us that the writers do not have enough faith in two bright young talents who have been making the fans go wild. Now, the decision is sure to backfire on the creative once the show rolls on but there are a lot of jobs left undone before that.

At Raw, the Cena –Orton match should be given its own identity rather than being attached overly to the other one. And this task wouldn’t be an easy one since WWE has been in this situation with the same wrestlers a million times in the past.

#1 Stage is set for Rollins and Ambrose

While the fans were left cursing the WWE writers for booking the Orton-Cena bout at HIAC last week, they were happy on the other side due to the stage being set for the lunatic fringe and the architect.

The storyline between the two has turned out to be the best one from the lot this year and it would turn another chapter with the match at HIAC. Unlike the last few weeks, there will be no Cena to mix up the buildup which leaves the spotlight entirely on Ambrose and Rollins.

After their lumberjack match at SummerSlam and the falls count match that followed, these men inside a Hell in a Cell would be nothing short of spectacular and we could get to see a trailer of the same at Raw.
