WWE Monday Night Raw Preview: June 22, 2015

John Cena

Stephanie McMahon and Seth RollinsAfter delivering an impactful episode last time around, WWE will be back with their weekly flagship show on Monday Night. Building up a credible card for Battleground will be the primary concern of the creative team. They have only booked two matches so far for the show and there are plenty of slots to fill. WWE needs to do a lot of work in the undercard of the pay-per-view as it is still half-baked.Although, the spotlight will be on Battleground, there will be hints here and there about WWE’s SummerSlam plans as well. So, here is a look at the menu that WWE could serve at this week’s edition of Monday Night Raw.

#5 Cena reacts

John Cena

Last week we saw Kevin Owens stealing the show. John Cena’s absence helped Owens to get the complete limelight. The Cenation leader is expected to make a return this week on Raw. From what we know, this feud is far from over. Owens now wants to take the United States Championship away from Cena.

It would be interesting to see the path WWE chooses for these two men. Keeping the feud fresh after two pay-per-view matches is a big task but they have to do it one way or the other. The returning Cena will serve as a big boost and he will not be silent when it comes to what happened at Money in the Bank.

#4 The unspent midcard

Sheamus

As mentioned earlier, there is plenty of work to be done in the undercard of Battleground. The only match currently added is Roman Reigns vs. Bray Wyatt. First of all, WWE will have to add a new chapter to this feud. Afterwards, they should look into developing the remaining ones. For instance, Randy Orton and Sheamus could have a match.

At the same time, the tag team division needs some solid booking. The likes of Dolph Ziggler, Adrian Neville, Bad News Barrett and a handful of others are also floating around without anything to do ahead of Battleground. Fixing all of these and giving everyone a share of the pay-per-view time should be on top of the company’s priority list right now.

#3 A Big return or Debut?

Eva Marie

WWE’s divas division saw a new storyline last week. Paige tried rallying the divas against The Bella Twins but unfortunately for her, no one was willing to help. This forced Paige to fight on her own. The storyline, however, has plenty of possibilities. WWE could introduce a new diva into the division and pair her up with Paige.

If we look down to NXT, almost all the divas down there are more than ready. But the pick might go to Eva Marie. She has been training under Brian Kendrick for a long time now and the fans will be eager to see how that shaped her up. Putting Eva into the title scene is what WWE should do since she could be on top if the training worked out well.

#2 Ambrose unleashing the Monster

Dean Ambrose

While the fans were busy cheering for Brock Lesnar last week, the WWE creative team sowed seeds for an excellent feud. Lesnar’s entry into the title scene pushes Dean Ambrose down the card and WWE has paired him up with Kane. Unlike the previous matches that Ambrose and Kane had, this one will be carried out differently.

Ambrose looked hell bound in bringing back the old Masked Kane. The Lunatic Fringe has the microphone skills to convince Kane and if he succeeds, then Ambrose might find himself a new tag team partner to fight against the Authority. Taking Kane away from the authority will also give WWE the opportunity to introduce someone new into that spot.

#1 Rollins with his hat of tricks

Seth Rollins and Brock Lesnar

A date between Seth Rollins and Brock Lesnar is all set for Battleground. Lesnar will clearly be the biggest challenge for the championship reign of Rollins. The WWE Champion managed to escape without any injuries last time around, but his luck might run out on Raw.

While Lesnar will haunt Rollins from one side, Rollins will have to settle his differences with the Authority as well. He will not be happy with the way Triple H and Stephanie McMahon brought back Lesnar. If the fans are lucky enough, they might even get to see a full-blown split between the Authority and Rollins. Anything could happen and Raw will have all the answers.
