WWE Night of Champions 2014 : 5 Face/Heel turns that could happen at the Pay-Per-View

The night that WWE has kept apart for the Champions is just a week away. Match card for the pay-per-view is near completion but unlike most of its preceding editions, this year’s Night of Champions will not only be about championships and champions. There are a lot of subplots heading in almost all the matches booked for the pay-per-view meaning that there is going to be a lot more than title changes as the show progresses. At SummerSlam, Nikki Bella’s heel turn stole the headlines showing how effective PPVs are for executing such angles. WWE will be heading into Night of Champions with this fact on back of their head so here is a look at some of the face or heel turns that could happen at the pay-per-view.

#5 The Authority

Admit it; the Authority has been going stale due to the lack of some innovative booking. Whenever Hunter and Stephanie walks down the ramp, the fans know what to expect and what not to expect from the duo.

The reason why WWE hasn’t been able to turn the Authority was the absence of greater heel. None of the superstars in the roster could’ve given some heel challenge for Hunter and Stephanie but right now it’s a different story, WWE has Brock Lesnar.

Lesnar alongside Heyman could establish themselves as the top heels in the company without much effort. After the Cena feud, there is nothing left for Lesnar also making the Authority face turn a good option.

Lesnar destroying Stephanie McMahon in a segment would be enough to execute the turn well and if it happens at NOC, it surely will be groundbreaking.

#4 Brie Bella

WWE had high hopes for the Bella feuds but not even Jerry Springer could save the storyline from being caught by the clutches of boredom.

Bad acting coupled with some poor writing has left the company struggling for an alternative direction for this feud and a Brie Bella heel turn might just be the best path they could take.

WWE is yet to clarify who the real victim is in this feud meaning that there is space for the turn. Nikki has a Divas title match at NOC and Brie turning heel to help her sister win the title would make matter compelling

It opens up the possibility of Stephanie and the Bellas going up against Paige, AJ and some other diva from the division making it a more solid story.

#3 Sheamus

The IWC have a lot of complaints about the WWE and one of the most relevant ones from the mix is about WWE not turning Sheamus heel.

Sheamus is one of those natural heels in the roster that has been wasted on a face run. The WWE Universe is well aware of the heel brilliance that Sheamus possess and the writers would use him for more than just the United States Championship if he was a heel.

The Celtic Warrior is slated for a match against Cesaro at Night of Champions and a post-match destruction of the Swiss Superman would be enough to turn Sheamus heel.

He is the kind of superstar that could align with the Authority and get a much bigger booking rather than spending time in the midcard.

#2 Brock Lesnar

Lesnar hasn’t been face for ages. He might be the face of the company but he is still a heel in kayfabe. A heel champion might look good right now since John Cena is the opponent but once Cena is taken out of the equation, there aren’t many faces in the roster that Lesnar could face.

Reigns is not ready to be in a title feud which leaves the lights of Big Show, Mark Henry, and some other midcarders left for Lesnar once Cena gets burned out.

On the other hand if Lesnar turns face thanks to the authority screwing him, he has Triple H, Randy Orton, Seth Rollins, Bray Wyatt and many more to face at the pay-per-views leading to WrestleMania 31.

The fans would simply be blown away if Lesnar turns face as it is something that many won’t see coming from the beast.

#1 John Cena

If there is anyone in the world that could convince Cena to join the dark side, it’s Paul Heyman. Heyman made his first step to doing so last week on Raw but it failed to bear fruit.

It was an encouraging tease for the fans however meaning that we might actually see the moment happening after all. Imagine Cena as a Paul Heyman guy or Cena aligning with the Authority, it would be the biggest swerve in the reality era.

Night of Champions is that one pay-per-view that is crucial for the WWE as Network renewals depends a lot on how the company books the show.

And if WWE wants to tell the fans that they are going to embark on a new era with Cena as heel, the renewals numbers would exceed the target set by Vince McMahon.
