WWE Night of Champions 2014 : 5 Twists that could happen at the Pay-Per-View

Going thoroughly on the expected path laid out by fans isn’t something that guarantees WWE a spectacular pay-per-view. Surprises and twists have been a mainstay for most of WWE’s big outings like this and after what happened at SummerSlam, Night of Champions has its bar set higher.Pressure is there on the writers to deliver on 21st September and they will surely get some hard criticism if the job is not done properly. At SummerSlam, Brock Lesnar’s domination and Nikki Bella’s heel turn were two things that fans didn’t see coming and both turned out to be big headline grabbers. There are many possibilities for WWE to try out at Night of Champions as well.So here is a look at the possible twists that the company could bring us at the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville on September 21.

#5 Rollins shows his desire for Championship

Rollins has been running around as Mr. Money in the bank for quite some time now. During the initial run, Rollins teased a cash in against Cena but once Cena dropped the title, the architect hasn’t shown his desire to be a champion.

Lesnar’s destruction might have something to do with it as no one would want to rattle the Beast. Rollins’ association with the Authority has been another big factor that holds him back but all that could change at Night of Champions.

Rollins teasing cash in on Lesnar would simply be the best move that WWE can do with him at NOC. This would give birth to some tension between the Authority and Lesnar as well as between Authority and Rollins.

A returning Ambrose in the mix would make matters more chaotic and worth watching unlike the crap they give with the Bellas.

#4 NXT takes over

After the successful showing at Monday Night Raw, WWE creative knows that they could rely on the NXT superstars to deliver a solid contest. Raw gave some good exposure for these names, but Night of Champions would be a much bigger stage.

WWE has booked eight matches so far for the pay-per-view which literally leaves no room for an NXT match to be added on.

This doesn’t however mean that they can’t have a pre –show match. After the network’s launch, the pre-show matches have been getting warm reaction from the crowd.

Any type of match including the top NXT stars would do the job for WWE in their efforts to put over NXT as a brand like Raw and SmackDown.

#3 Nikki Bella becomes new champion

The inclusion the Divas championship into the Bellas feud was expected to happen at one point or the other. However, when it happened, the fans realized that it wasn’t a good idea as it opened up the idea of Nikki wining the divas title.

WWE Universe had no complaints about AJ and Paige holding the title as both divas were worthy of doing so. Nikki on the other hand is nowhere near those two in terms of acting and in ring skills.

Having put all the resource into the Bellas feud, the next thing that company can do is to let Brie and Nikki fight over the title.

It would be an idiotic decision but the shock value of the same would be enough to let WWE’s decision stand out no matter how bad it is.

#2 Ambrose doesnt show up

Dean Ambrose’s absence from the WWE programming is one of the most talked about topics in recent times. He was taken out of the scenario while being one of the top faces in the roster.

It was a bad move from the company without any doubt and the fans are calling for Ambrose to return. WWE apparently has advertised Ambrose for Night of Champions and the Raw that follows up, but this might just be a marketing move.

Ambrose making an appearance is an exciting prospect for many fans and would draw some more into the arena, but this doesn’t mean that he has to be there.

WWE only needs to deliver a video package of the Lunatic Fringe to live up to the advertisement while letting Ambrose return late would make the fire more intense.

#1 Cena gets a win

After what happened at SummerSlam, Lesnar is at the top of professional wrestling. He ended the Undertaker’s streak at WrestleMania and months later he defeated Cena as if the Cenation leader was some jobber.

The motivation to let Lesnar win like that was to let the fans know how the company is backing the beast to be the new face.

However, there are speculations that Vince McMahon still wants Cena to be the top guy. This was the reason why Cena got that dominant win over Bray Wyatt on Raw. If Vince still has the idea, this would mean that Lesnar might be in danger of losing the title.

Lesnar getting beaten at NOC by Cena would be the biggest swerve that WWE could pull off at the pay-per-view as no one would see it coming.
