WWE Night of Champions 2014 : Predictions and Possible Opponents for Every Champion

SummerSlam turned out to be a bad place for Champions as all the three titles that were on the line found new holders. With that said, WWE’s next pay-per-view outing, as the name suggest, is supposed to be a complete contrast.Rematch for that epic encounter between Brock Lesnar and john Cena is the only match added to the show so far with additions to be made in the coming weeks. The United States Championship and Tag Team title failed to find a spot in SummerSlam, but is expected to make the cut this time around. Ziggler and Paige will be getting their spotlight as well, so here is a look at who all might come out of Night of Champions with the gold intact.

#5 Divas Championship: Retains

Paige and AJ Lee has been facing eachother for two consecutive pay-per-views. The fans aren’t much bored with the angle as it has the two best talents that the division has to offer.

The creative had multiple title changes to keep the heat up but it is clear that AJ is leaving sooner or later. This means that more backing will be needed for Paige, who will be responsible for carrying the division forward.

For this to happen, no matter how crazy the angle is, WWE should let Paige get another clean win over AJ. CM Punk’s girlfriend wouldn’t mind taking another loss as she is already at heights without anything more to conquer.

Natalya was given an outside chance to challenge for the title but her recent loss suggest that its going to be another one on one bout.

Possible Opponent : AJ Lee

#4 Tag Team Championship: Drops

WWE should’ve let the Usos drop their title right after WrestleMania. After taking over from the Rhodes Brothers, Usos have been going through a rough patch due to the lack of credible opponents for them.

Wyatt Family was the only team which would’ve taken the title away till now. However, this week the creative decided to add a more interesting twist. Heel turn from the Rhodes Brothers indicates a long term feud against Usos.

The in ring action will be consistent with these two teams while a title change is necessary for making the angle heat up more. Big Show and Mark Henry is another big threat to the brothers but it would be more sensible to have some dust in the ring at NOC.

Possible Opponents: Stardust and Goldust.

#3 Intercontinental Championship Drops

Ziggler deserves to be a champion. However, if the creative isn’t ready to let him have a good run, there is no point in the Show off carrying around the gold.

After winning the title, his first match ended up in a count out loss to Miz while second came in form of a win against Damien Sandow. There are a lot of possibilities for Ziggler to face in the roster but WWE stuck with Miz and a man who is having an identity crisis.

Another one on one match against Miz is not good enough to be in the pay-per-view, and the best booking decision that WWE could do to overcome this is title unification.

A fatal four way between Cesaro, Sheamus, Ziggler and Miz would be entertaining to the core and this possibility also brings us to the United States Championship.

Possible Opponents: Sheamus, Cesaro and Miz

#2 United States Championship Retains

As mentioned earlier, the United States title failed to be in the SummerSlam match card. This would’ve made the writers realize that having two titles in the midcard isn’t a good idea.

They’ve already determined the No.1 contender in the form of Cesaro, however there are still chances of the unification bout. The biggest hint came at SmackDown this week when the chemistry between potential contenders was tested.

It will be either a fatal four way or a singles match to determine the faith of this title but Sheamus might come out on top at both occasions.

He has been protected well by the writers ever since he made his debut was presented with a toned down Cena type push. If there is any superstar who could hold the unfitted title, it is Sheamus, period.

Possible opponents: Cesaro or Cesaro, Ziggler and Miz

#1 WWE Championship Retains

It is the biggest draw that WWE has as Lesnar will be out there to destroy Cena yet again while the Cenation leader has everything to prove about his credibility.

Cena might’ve had a lot of over booking in the past but the chances of him walking out of Night of Champions with the titles aren’t high. Lesnar has only started his reign and it looks like the beast is here to stay.

Another title change would simply degrade the WWE championship along with doing the same to Lesnar.

There might be some glimpses of a fight back from Cena or he could simply get destroyed once again, but no matter how the booking goes, Paul Heyman’s client is a hands down winner at NOC.
