WWE NXT 3rd February 2016 - 5 points to note

William Regal has set up a No. 1 contenders match between Joe and Zayn

Finn Balor, Asuka, Enzo Amore and Big Cass- most of the big names of NXT were present for this show in three different matches. While two were essentially a showcase of the popular stars, one was the main event that despite not being high stakes delivered at being a good enough main event. It wasn't the best episode NXT had to offer but being NXT, it wasn't the worst scenario for professional wrestling on display. NXT loyalists will definitely tune into another week of its episode because it's going get a lot more interesting on the road to Takeover: Dallas. Here are the 5 points to note from this week’s show:

#5 Cliffhanger

William Regal has set up a No. 1 contenders match between Joe and Zayn

We know Zayn’s days in NXT are now numbered. It is heavily rumored that he will move to the main roster after WrestleMania and what better way to mark the Raw episode of WrestleMania? Takeover: Dallas is probably going to be his last night in NXT.

So, if he does face Finn Balor eventually, it’ll be something since these two have not met on a regular NXT show before. Now that Regal has decided to make Joe and Zayn fight it out to see who gets to face Balor, it seems we would have to wait until we see these two face proper on television.

It seems Joe will take this one.

#4 Carmella beats Emma

Carmella won her match against Emma

Carmella and Bayley’s feud hasn’t been that interesting. The best friends are too happy to be having a match and Carmella defeated Emma clean and while this match was supposed to be a showcase of how good Carmella is, this match only proved how great Emma and Dana Brooke are. They are so good as heels, it never ceases to be entertaining. And it’s a travesty that someone as talented as Emma is being a stepping stone for other performers.

Carmella won clean as expected and next week she vows to become the new NXT women’s champion.

#3 Amore and Cass dominate

They mean business

They’ve been showcasing the most entertaining tag team in NXT as quite serious these days. There have also been rumors that they’ll soon be promoted to the main roster. Amore and Cassady mean business when they say they want to conquer Dash and Dawson once and for all.

And the thing is that these two are the Sami Zayn/Bayley of the tag team division. They deserve the glory of being tag champs and even if they win their non-title matches dominantly, they should at least win the tag titles before being called up to the main roster.

#2 Asuka and the Road to Glory

Asuka won her match convincingly.

If you’ve been wary of the all the spoilers about NXT then don’t read any further.

There’s a spoiler on its way right now.

Stop reading.

Asuka is going to face Bayley at Takeover: Dallas for the title and many believe this to be Asuka’s chance of winning the title and Bayley then getting promoted to the main roster. So, the little clues they’ve already laid out for us to see like Asuka having a viciously brimming face off with Nia Jax backstage at Takeover: London, or her giving a sinister smile while Carmella and Bayley celebrated their upcoming championship match after Carmella won the Battle Royale.

Asuka had a match which wasn’t essentially a squash and won. The commentators made sure we remember that sinister smile from weeks back. And we will.

#1 Balor\'s match

Balor and Crews fought it out in the main event

Finn Balor hasn’t really been on NXT all that much. It’s got some fans to complain his absence but it could be looked at from a different vantage point. Firstly, he’s the NXT Champion and he does not make as many appearances in Full Sail as much other popular performers.

That signals a certain sense of entitlement which may come with being NXT Champion. So, when he does make appearances for a segment in the ring or matches, it’s almost a wonder, something to experience because it’s not so regular.

His match with Crews was good while not as ecstatic as the one they had before. But they have a great in-ring chemistry and this was worthy of being the main event. Even without much of a storyline and even if it came with the predictability of the champ winning.
