Its amazing the amount of talent the WWE possesses. NXT Takeover showcased that the futureis very bright for all the prospects looking to make it tothe main roster. There were someincredible show stopping performances.Here are the top five highlights from the night-
#1 Charlotte
Charlotte won. And then there was Ric Flair and then there was the most powerful moment of the night. They had a tearful embrace. It was a proud moment for both of them.
But all of thatcame after a spectacular match. Spectacular in every sense of the word. Not just from a divas division perspective but from a wrestling perspective. Defeating Natalya, probably one of the most technically gifted divas ever, is a great achievement.
I know this was only on NXT but can this please qualify as a Match of the Year candidate?
#2 Natalya
“Not only are they both very skilled competitors, but imagine the knowledge they have in the corners they can go to if needed.”- Regal
At this point in her career, WWE is using Natalya to put over other promising divas. They did that with Paige and now Charlotte. But this match did not do any injustice to Natalya’s talents. Natalya showcased why she is without a doubt the most technically gifted diva in the WWE.
A wrestling match is great not because of what the result of the match is but how the result is reached. The journey is more important than the destination. Natalya and Charlotte wrestled very well, and provided a highly intense match which was reminiscent of the great lineage they are part of.
#3 Sami Zayn
“His greatest gift, that the fans love him, can also be your greatest curse. He feeds off the audience a little too much sometimes”- Regal on Zayn
Zayn Lost. He is arguably the best wrestler on NXT right now and the most popular one and a loss did nothing harm his reputation. His legacy on NXT is intact. He is a wrestler with a lot of history prior to being on WWE and on Takeover he was not just performing in front of a loyal NXT crowd but also keen observers from Raw and Smackdown too.
And they saw what we know for some time. Zayn is awesome.
#4 Tyler Breeze
This man is something special”- Regal
Tyler Breeze is starting to show what he’s made of. He’s got attitude issues, attention issues, image issues among many other. He’s cocky, he’s arrogant, devious and certainly glamorous.
Tyler Breeze delivered a breakthrough performance and his vicyory is a sign of belief the management is showing in him to take on the responsbility of being a top star.
He beat Sami Zayn, who himself is riding the crest of a huge popularity wave.
#5 Adrian Neville and Tyson Kidd
Just like Natalya, Kidd is considered to be a great technician but has never consistently made it count.
The match was very well hyped as it was the main event for the NXT title and was preceeded by two matches which were showstoppers.
Zayn, Breeze, Natalya and Charlotte were brilliant in their matches and Kidd and Neville ensured that Takeover ended on a high as they put in power packed performances.
