Possible outcomes for Cena Versus Rusev at Fast Lane

Brian

How will it end? That is the question running through the minds of WWE fans all over the world, after it was announced late Monday night that Rusev would take on John Cena at the upcoming Fast Lane pay per view. I know many are worried about Rusev’s undefeated streak coming to an end against John Cena, but there are so many ways the WWE can prevent that from happening.

#1 Authority Interference

It’s no secret that Rusev is a favorite amongst The Authority. It’s also no secret that John Cena is one of the main enemies of The Authority. With that in mind, who’s to say that The Authority won’t get involved in this storyline as well?

It would certainly go along with The Authorities recent plans to convince John Cena that he doesn’t have much longer on top of the mountain and what better way to reinforce that, then to have him go up against a rising star in The WWE.

#2 Count Out

I know this would be a less popular outcome to many fans, but it would serve the purpose of protecting Rusev’s streak for the time being, while protecting John Cena’s superstar status as well.

The WWE has done this before with other superstars facing Rusev, including Dolph Ziggler last Thursday night on Smackdown, what’s to stop The WWE pulling off the move again. The ending would set up the two superstars for an epic WrestleMania match that could cement Rusev’s career for years to come!

#3 Disqualification

Who else has a bone to pick with Rusev? The answer to that question, is almost everyone in The WWE locker room. The Bulgarian brute has laid waste to many superstars during his time in The WWE, and one has to consider that the possibility that any one of those superstars could come to Cena’s aid during their match at Fastlane.

While this is a less likely option, due to WWE most likely wanting this feud to continue through WrestleMania 31, it would definitely be a swerve in the road of this storyline.

#4 Refereee Stoppage

This has happened so many times during Rusev’s career that, it has to be some kind record. Whether from locking in The Accolade submission move, or just knocking a superstar senseless with one of his high power kicks, the possibility is very high that Cena will be ruled unable to continue after Rusev locks in the devastating Submission move at Fastlane, leading to a possible submission match at WrestleMania 31.

#5 No Contest

Despite this being a main attraction for the Fastlane Pay per view, the WWE might benefit from the match not happening at all. Instead, we would see Rusev and Cena battle throughout the arena, causing the WWE Universe to go wild, and set up a falls count anywhere or Lumberjack match at WrestleMania 31.

This would not only be an exciting moment for fans in the arena and watching the pay per view on TV, it would also be a great tease to make fans want to see their eventual collision at WrestleMania 31 just that much more.

#6 Return of The Rock

The WWE could create something special at WrestleMania 31, by teaming The Rock and John Cena together to take on The Bulgarian Brute at The Showcase of The Immortals. With a match like that, the flagship pay per view would practically sell itself! Now that the fantasy aspect of this option is over, let’s look at the reality of this possibility. Yes, Rock obviously could still have a bone to pick with Rusev, after their encounter on Monday Night Raw a few months ago, but what are the chances that Cena and Rock would actually team up? Personally I believe the possibility has become much higher, with The Rock returning at Royal Rumble, and with Sting Versus Triple H almost guaranteed at WrestleMania 31.

This wouldn’t be the first time that Cena and Rock have teamed up in order to take out an opposing force. At the 2012 edition of Survivor Series, Cena and Rock teamed up to face The Awesome Truth, comprised of R-Truth and The Miz. The Allegiance didn’t last long though, as The Rock planted Cena with a Rock Bottom, only seconds after the match.
