WWE Power Rankings: April 19th, 2014

WWE were bound to make Extreme Rules a big deal as we saw them plot all the right moves this week. One of the fiercest stables in the history of WWE returned to take out the hounds of justice as we also saw a tournament kick off to determine the new No.1 contender. The Paige era of Divas division was also in full swing. Tamina earned the opportunity to face the new champion at Extreme Rules as well making it clear that AJ Lee is taking her time off.Kane finally took on the monster gimmick that we loved and promised to take out Daniel Bryan who was on his honeymoon this week. There were some more pickings here and there also so lets take a look at how all these reflected on the Power Rankings.

#25 Rhodes Brothers (Previous Rank- 22)

Cody Rhodes and Goldust continued their slip down in the division with a loss against Rybaxel. Though, it was a hard fought match from their part as usual, the string of loses is doing no good for the former champions.

#24 Dolph Ziggler (Previous Rank- 24)

Dolph Ziggler had arguably the match of the week against Bad News Barrett on Raw. with such an excellent show to his credit, Ziggler holds on to his 24th spot despite being knocked out of the Intercontinental title tournament.

#23 AJ Lee (Previous Rank- 21)

AJ Lee is apparently taking time off from the busy schedules of WWE to have some quality interactions with CM Punk. But once she returns, she will be keen to get back the title but till then chances of AJ surviving in the Power Rankings are slim.

#22 Los Matadores (Previous Rank- Nil)

El Torito faced Hornswoggle in a highly hyped match at SmackDown and walked out as the winner. The win spring boards the Los Matadores back into the power rankings but they are clearly off the title scene for now.

#21 Alexandre Rusev (Previous Rank- 23)

Rusev continued his dominance this week when he took out Xavier Woods and R-Truth. He also showed his worth when facing the Shield at Raw and all this helps him to climb two spots into 21st in the power Rankings.

#20 Jack Swagger (Previous Rank- 18)

Jack Swagger had a tough week this time around as he took losses to Sheamus and Big Show. with no signs of the Cesaro feud happening any time soon, Zeb Colter seems determined to get a new partner for Swagger which may work some wonders.

#19 Alberto Del Rio (Previous Rank- 17)

The Mexican failed to advance in the Power Rankings this week after bowing down to his former nemesis, Rob Van Dam. He also took a bump against Big E during the week and drops down the Rankings as a result.

#18 Rybaxel (Previous Rank- 25)

An impressive win against Cody Rhodes and Goldust on Raw puts Rybaxel in the driver seat. They are the only team worthy of a title shot at the moment and may get their rub at the champions in Extreme Rules.

#17 Kane (Previous Rank- Nil)

After months of being confined in the screen, Kane was unleashed finally by Stephanie McMahon this week. He celebrated the return with a win against Big Show at Main Event which puts him back in the Power Rankings.

#16 Tamina (Previous Rank- Nil)

Tamina proved to the world that she is more than just a mere body guard by winning the Battle Royal in Main Event and thus becoming the new No.1 contender for the Divas Championship. The win gets her a place in the power ranking as well.

#15 The Undertaker (Previous Rank- 15)

All the fire that surrounded the end of Undertaker’s streak was nowhere to be seen this week as the fans were invested in the developments elsewhere. The lack of inactivity is slowly taking the Phenom out of the Rankings despite the efforts of Heyman to keep him relevant.

#14 Bad News Barrett (Previous Rank- 19)

Getting in the ring was only that Barrett needed as he was seen delivering some great performances in the week. Barrett knocked out Ziggler on Raw to advance in the Intercontinental title tournament in the process and takes a big jump in the power rankings.

#13 Paige (Previous Rank- 14)

Paige got a taste of the main roster this week and came out of looking good in both encounters. She certainly has given some new life for the division and will have to take out Tamina is she is to continue the run.

#12 Big Show (Previous Rank- 13)

Show started off the week by silencing Damien Sandow on Raw and also had a win against Jack Swagger But a resurrected Kane seemed too much for the Giant. Show climbs one place thanks to the wins which also overshadowed the loss.

#11 Sheamus (Previous Rank- 12)

The Celtic warrior advanced in the Intercontinental title tournament with a win over Jack Swagger on Raw but fell victim to Batista on SmackDown. He now has Bad News Barrett as the obstacle for his title hunt and Barrett will be keen to exploit the leg which is hurt which is bad news for Sheamus.

#10 Rob Van Dam (Previous Rank- 11)

Mr. Monday Night Raw seemed destined to taste gold in his latest run after knocking out Alberto Del Rio to advance in the Intercontinental title tournament. He however, has a red hot Cesaro up next which might not end like the way he wants to.

#9 Cesaro (Previous Rank- 10)

Paul Heyman’s new client continued his impressive run this week with a win over the World’s Strongest Man on Raw. The whole tournament looks like it was invented for Cesaro to get the title and apparently there won’t be any stopping to the King of Swing as he has Heyman by his side.

#8 Big E (Previous Rank- 9)

Big E is certainly feeling the heat after the tournament kicked off. He however showed no signs of distraction when he picked up two win over the week. The victories help him to climb one spot and edges closer to the top five.

#7 The Usos (Previous Rank- 6)

The tag teams champions were again taken out by Randy Orton and Batista this week and things would’ve been much worse if it wasn’t for the Shield. The beating drops the Usos down to 7th spot in the power rankings.

#6 Shield (Previous Rank- 3)

Shield got more than what they bargained for on Raw as the Evolution reformed to deliver a merciless beating. The Hounds of Justice soften up by 11 other men prior to that which didn’t look good either. The beat down cost them three spots in the rankings as they end up in 6th.

#5 Wyatt Family (Previous Rank- 5)

Bray Wyatt and his creepy guys were kept away from in ring action for some reason this week but their impressive microphone skills covered up well. Cena pointing out that Bray didn’t get a win at WrestleMania was a punch which wasn’t called for but Bray will be looking to level the scores at Extreme Rules.

#4 John Cena (Previous Rank- 4)

The Cenation leader was showing no signs of the feat that he had for Bray before their WrestleMania match. He also managed to find Bray’s relatives in the Social media sites as well. He then ended the segment on a serious note for Extreme Rules which stood out as the highlight.

#3 Daniel Bryan (Previous Rank- 2)

The newly crowned WWE World Heavyweight Champion was on his honeymoon this week and his absence surprisingly wasn’t there to be seen. When he returns, the big red monster will be waiting for him and Bryan might have a handful at Extreme Rules.

#2 Brock Lesnar (Previous Rank-1)

The Beast incarnated reportedly will be out of action till Summer Slam which is not good news for his rankings. The heat which he had after ending the Steak is certainly being wasted if so but Paul Heyman is doing everything in his power to keep everyone on their seat.

#1 Evolution (Previous Rank- Nil)

One of the best heel factions to ever come out of WWE, Evolution made its return this week to put an end to the rampage of Shield. Though Ric Flair’s absence was visible, the faction didn’t lack the dominance they were known for. They now have a date for Extreme Rules as well which is going to be a battle worth watching.
