WWE Monday Night Raw: 28 July, 2014 - Superstar Ratings

Bar kept at the expectations levels of WWE fans was not reached by this week’s raw but it certainly had some moments which they were waiting to see.Two matches were added to SummerSlam with another two seeing progress in their buildups. Absence of Dean Ambrose and Brock Lesnar turned out to be the biggest talking point of the night in which two women closed the show in contradiction to all the tradition. The company sadly didn’t have many in ring action to boast about apart from two matches and might be blaming themselves for not taking the efforts to book better. It was a shallow show to say the least and here is a look at the Superstar Ratings.

#20 Diego 4

Absence of Fernando is apparently not stopping WWE from giving Diego and El Torito some television time. The aim of the match was to add another ridiculous segment to the ongoing friction among Summer Rae, Layla and Fandango. This made Diego look like nothing more than a filler despite the win.

#19 Paige 4.5

The Anti-Diva that we used to see in NXT is long gone and Paige has morphed into a confusing character who struggles to overcome the aura of AJ Lee. It was a bad piece of booking from the company to let Paige run away like this as she was supposed to be build up as a challenge for the champion.

#18 Bo Dallas 4.5

After months and months of building up a credible streak for Bo Dallas, the company just destroyed it this week on Raw. And to make matter worse, of all people they let R-Truth do the honor which gives no chance of a follow up for the inspirational superstar.

#17 Rybaxel 5

Ryback and Curtis Axel have a brush with the Tag team champions this week which might be WWE’s way of giving them a chance to show the chemistry. The duo didn’t take the opportunity well however and ended up losing the match without much grace to show.

#16 R-Truth 5

Truth is one of the most experienced wrestlers in the WWE roster right now but this doesn’t explain why WWE let him end the undefeated run of Bo Dallas. Truth looked out of place in the whole segment and he should’ve been invested somewhere else than wasting a good program.

#15 The Miz 5

WWE dropped another hint this week on how they are planning to book Miz as the intercontinental champion when they let him take the easy route again. The only positive that Miz can take away from this week’s Raw would be the reception he gets from the crowd as it could help to build the character.

#14 AJ Lee 5

Despite having the ammunition to make this the best Divas feud in recent history, WWE seems to be hesitant about something. The segment involving AJ and Paige was good considering the standards of the division but these two divas could put together a much better performance.

#13 The Usos 6

The Tag team champions were invested in something other than the Wyatt Family this week and it failed to impress the fans. The six man tag team match didn’t have the usual excitement that Usos brings to the squared circle and WWE hasn’t yet made it clear who Usos will face next for the titles.

#12 Rusev 6

The Bulgarian Brute showed up this week to give a trademark teasing of the fans but was interrupted in time by Swagger. Rusev hasn’t yet recovered from the mere escape he had from Swagger at Battleground and this week’s segment further took away his momentum.

#11 Wyatt Family 6

There was nothing new from the creepy guys this week as they attacked Jericho. Ending such an exciting match in this way made everyone look bad. Bray’s motive of attacking Jericho is still a mystery waiting to be explored and WWE should reveal it soon if they don’t want to see Bray slipping down the ladder.

#10 Dolph Ziggler 6.5

Ziggler is one of those wrestlers who is over with the fans without having any push to show. However, the latter fact seems to be changing as the Show off is paving his path to become the No.1 contender for Miz’s title. This materializing would give Ziggler a good spot in the SummerSlam match card which he truly deserves.

#9 Brie Bella 7

Brie’s limitations in acting were there to be seen in the segment she had with Stephanie and the McMahon girl simply outshined Bryan’s wife. WWE should book Brie more wisely as Stephanie was the one who carried the whole segment.

#8 Jack Swagger 7

The face run of Swagger is going better than WWE might’ve planned it to be. The fans have accepted the Real American with warms hand and despite the segment having nothing new in it, it turned out to be a success thanks to the explosive crowd that was in attendance.

#7 Seth Rollins 7

Mr. Money in the Bank didn’t have Ambrose to haunt him this week and gave a show stealing performance against Jericho. The botched ending messed up the match for both the superstars and Rollins seemed almost irrelevant without Ambrose.

#6 Cesaro 7

Cesaro once again showed that his in ring ability is unquestionable when he stepped in the ring with Cena. The promo section still requires some improvement for the Swiss Superman who looked awkward when he took a dig at Cena before the match.

#5 Chris Jericho 7.5

The human highlight reel was gold on the microphone when he made fun of the Authority. He showed immense chemistry with Rollins as well which might force the WWE to book the superstars against eachother once their respective programs come to an end.

#4 Roman Reigns 7.5

Reigns was out with all cylinders blazing this week also but got hit by a roadblock named Randy Orton. WWE did well to show that Reigns would’ve come out on top if it wasn’t for the numbers game and has protected him even in the ruthless attack that the Viper gave.

#3 Stephanie McMahon 7.5

Stephanie was at her best this week when she headlined Raw. The emotional transition that she showed in between the segment was more than memorable and showed how gifted she is. As Stephanie mentioned, she hasn’t wrestled for more than a decade but if segments like this is going to feud the match, it won’t be a big problem.

#2 Randy Orton 8

After being projected as the Authority’s puppet for a long time, Orton finally came out of the shadow this week to give a vicious attack. He showed glimpses of the old apex predator that the fans used to love and if he builds on this, SummerSlam just might be the place where Orton would steal the show.

#1 John Cena 8

The Cenation leader pulled off one of his finest promos this week and followed it up with a solid match against Cesaro. The Attitude Adjustment from the ropes was arguably the spot of the night and Cena has started to build his momentum well ahead of his big clash against Brock Lesnar.
