Road to WrestleMania 31: Bray Wyatt

After the conclusion of Fast Lane, we are officially on the Road to WrestleMania. There will be no more stops before the granddaddy of them all, and it would be an apt time to look at what this road holds for the superstars in the roster. And from the jam packed roster, Bray Wyatt is someone who looks set to steal the show at Mania. The rumored match with ‘The Undertaker’ looks all set to happen at the pay-per-view. If that is the case, then Bray’s career will be catapulted into new heights irrespective of the result. As we are counting down restlessly towards WrestleMania, here is a look at the journey of Bray Wyatt so far and the road ahead for him.

#5 Post WrestleMania 30

Bray Wyatt’s last WrestleMania outing was almost disastrous. The ‘almost’ part is because of the story he managed to say alongside John Cena while the ‘disastrous’ part is for the result of Super Cena winning.

Though the feud was acceptable till then, it turned out to be a complete mess post –Mania. Bray’s monster image was no more and he looked like nothing more than a mere human that fell prey to Cena. The feud ended with nothing beneficial for Bray and he was then put into an angle with Chris Jericho.

Initially, it looked like a potential show stealer but there was nothing good about the feud apart from the last steel cage match. Once WWE wrapped up the Jericho angle, then it was time for them to build Bray up for his WrestleMania showdown. He got the upper hand in an insane feud with Dean Ambrose and the writing was on the wall.

#4 Momentum for WrestleMania 31

The Jericho feud left a bad impression on Bray’s momentum and WWE had to make him do something impressive if he was to look good ahead of the Undertaker clash.

Rumble proved to be the stage for Bray’s revival and he completely stole the limelight. Bray was on fire in the battle royal and went on to eliminate half a dozen superstars including Daniel Bryan during the match. Seeing such a performance from him, the fans became almost sure about what WWE has in plans for Bray at Mania.

Bray was protected in all of the weeks that followed and his spine chilling promos against Undertaker further boosted his moment. As things stand now, Bray looks like a credible threat to the Phenom and his safety.

#3 What to Expect

What to expect from Bray at WrestleMania is indeed a great question. What the fans want from him would be another relevant question. If the company gives importance to the second one, then we will get to see a torch passing moment between Taker and Bray.

The other possibility would be Bray being jobbed away by Taker so that the Phenom will look good till next year, where he could have the dream match with Sting.

On a basic level, Bray will bring in a lot of in-ring psychology into the match and with a veteran like The Undertaker in there to help him; Bray has all the ammunition to look good at WrestleMania.

#2 Immediate Aftermath of WrestleMania 31

Facing Undertaker at WrestleMania is a dream scenario for anyone and that includes Bray Wyatt as well. But the problem is, Undertaker will go missing after Mania and who ever faced him will be left without a proper opponent to wrap up the storyline.

Bray’s microphone skills would come in handy in this situation and he could probably cover up the absence of Undertaker with some cryptic message.

On the other hand if Taker is available for one or two appearances after Mania (which is very unlikely by the way). WWE could conclude the Taker – Bray angle without much problems and everyone will have a happy ending.

#1 What the future holds

Once the torch will be passed from Taker to Bray, WWE will have a big platform to push Bray. Instead of putting him in some unwanted midcard angle, WWE should try building Bray as a main event player who could challenge for the WWE Championship.

A face turn will also be a welcomed sight as it has some immense amount of possibilities. Bray could go up against the likes of Authority, Lesnar, Rollins and many more with a baby face turn and could make him a cult figure like Undertaker as well.

One year from now, Bray should be in the title scene. If this doesn’t materialize properly, then it will go down as another botched move by the creative team.
