WWE Royal Rumble 2014: 5 Storylines worth following till the Pay-Per-View

The episode of Monday Night Raw which followed TLC wasn’t anything great. Apart from the Steel Cage match between John Cena and Seth Rollins which headlined the show, nothing stood out from the pile of same old boring bookings.Build up to Royal Rumble might be looking a bit twisted after what we saw on Monday night but it doesn’t mean that every bit of the company’s plan is messed up.A lot of work is yet to be done by Vince McMahon and his pack; however, there are certain feuds that are worth following all the way to the January pay-per-view. So here is a rundown on those storylines that fall into the category of potential show stealers.

#5 New Paul Heyman guy?

The fans who sat through three hours of boredom on Monday got to see an unholy alliance between Seth Rollins and Paul Heyman. After what Rollins did to Lesnar at Night of Champions, it would’ve been natural if the beast laid out Rollins just like he did with Cena.

However, that didn’t happen. Instead, Lesnar gifted Rollins a win while Paul Heyman went on to shake his hand with Mr. Money in the bank.

There are no clues dropped on why Heyman decided to shake hands with Rollins but we could deduce a thing or two from the situation. First of all Lesnar will see his contract end in a couple of months and WWE will need a new Paul Heyman guy.

And what if Rollins is the new Paul Heyman guy? It’s an angle with a lot of potential and deserves to get a lot of attention.

#4 Feed the Russian

Ryback has been built up as a big deal ever since he made a return after his injury. He did struggle a bit at Survivor Series but the win against Kane on TLC has covered up for that. The next step made by Ryback shocked everyone.

The big guy came down and had a confrontation with the United States Champion Rusev in what proved to be a crowd puller from the ignition itself. These two superstars have been protected big time by the company and the clash is going to tell us who Vince McMahon values more.

With the match happening so close to WrestleMania, this angle will most probably reach that stop as well. Even if doesn’t, the storyline between a hungry Ryback and the Bulgarian Brute is sure to be a solid one.

#3 Hes got the whole monitor in his hand

Bray Wyatt and Dean Ambrose could’ve ended up as the top performers of TLC if it wasn’t for their botched ending. The fans were left with a lot of questions about the monitor exploding climax and all the possible answers are utterly stupid.

Keeping that botch apart, the feud, so far has been great. These two men delivered some of the best promos in recent history while the in ring action also stands out.

The only thing missing in their feud now is a decisive ending. Climax of TLC left the doors wide open for WWE writers to add another chapter to the Ambrose – Bray saga and considering how talented these two superstars are, this one has the potential to steal the limelight at Royal Rumble.

#2 Obvious dominance from Reigns

Reigns being the favorite at Royal Rumble is no secret. He is almost sure to win the Battle Royal and head to main event WrestleMania. Before that, WWE needs to make him look strong.

The Samoan Superstar has been out of television for a long time now and he must be having some ring rust to shake off. Along with this, the fans need to be warmed up for the final moment.

Reigns is going to enjoy a lot of dominance throughout the path to Royal Rumble and though it will be a one way path, it’s sure to be entertaining. Big Show looks set to be the first causality of this run and some other big names could be added as we head further.

#1 The Last Battle

Even if some might not agree, a match between John Cena and Brock Lesnar is always a main stream draw. And considering the history they had from SummerSlam, the stakes of the match goes even higher.

Unlike the last couple of times, this angle looks more credible due to the unpredictability. We were sure of Lesnar winning when these two clashed previously, however, with Lesnar’s contract coming to an end, it could go either way at the Rumble.

The external factor of Seth Rollins also casts a big shadow over proceedings. If the company could book Lesnar on a regular basis till Royal Rumble, this one is going to look better than it already is.
