WWE Royal Rumble 2015: Top 3 surprises from the pay-per-view

The relationship between the Philadelphia fans and WWE is not the best one in the world. First, the fans turned on WWE for raiding the ECW talent in late 90s. Then when Vince McMahon tried to bring back a newer version of ECW, everyone started throwing rotten eggs at him.But the most latest and worst of all backlashes from the Philadelphia fans came at this year’s Royal Rumble when a pretty boy went on to win the Rumble in the Land of Extreme. The pay-per-view bombed big time to keep the analysis short, but WWE did try to cover up for their screw ups with a couple of surprise moments here and there. The element of surprise is the heart of Royal Rumble and here are the best ones from the 2015 lot.

#4 The missing people

WWE did bring back a lot of name for the Royal Rumble match, but there were a lot of absentees. The most notable among them was Randy Orton and Sheamus. Even though, we are rarely feeling their absence from the WWE scene, these two are seasoned superstars who will be crucial for WrestleMania.

Orton has been ready to return for nearly two months now, but the company for some reason is still keeping him away from the squared circle. Same applies for the Celtic warrior.

A majority of the fans expected both superstars to make their triumphant return at the Rumble but when WWE strolled through the show with no signs of both men, it turned out to be a twist in the tale.

#3 The Rocks appearance

This surprise was a bit ruined by Rock when he posted a picture in Social media. However, it was good to see a return of this magnitude happen at the Royal Rumble. No matter what people says about him, Dwayne The Rock Johnson, on any day knows how to bring in some mainstream attention.

It was one of the reasons why WWE bought him back in the first place since they wanted the world to know about the rise of Roman Reigns. There was a big problem in this entire plan: Daniel Bryan.

WWE shouldnt have let him return before the Rumble and is now paying for their sins. Even the surprise entry of Rock didnt help to put over Reigns but it was a sweet surprise nevertheless thus making it in the list.

#2 Curtis Axel winning

No, I’m not serious but think about it. Axel was never eliminated from the Rumble match. All the other 28 Superstars were eliminated and Reigns probably went out over the top after his victory, so who is the winner of the Royal Rumble and No.1 Contender for Brock Lesnar’s Championship? Just some food for thought.

#1 Daniel Bryans elimination

Some might say that Roman Reigns winning the Rumble (sorry Curtis Axel fans) was a surprise but, to be frank, it was obvious after Daniel Bryan got eliminated. Bryan’s elimination however was the night’s biggest shock.

He was the clear favorite and what the fans wanted to see at WrestleMania. But when the flying goat was eliminated from the match with one third of the entrants still yet to enter, the fans completely lost their patience with WWE.

There is no explanation from WWE’s side on why they made Bryan return if he was not going to win the rumble and even if they come up with one, the WWE Universe does not look eager to buy an apology.
