This week’s Smackdown, quite simply put, was disappointing. Add to that the fact that it’s a pre- taped show and you have a recipe for disaster. The reactions were edited and piped in, as is expected from a Smackdown episode. The one newsworthy things that came out of WWE this week was the incident where some fans jumped into the ring during the main event match between the team of Cena and Bryan and The Brass Ring Club. Other than that, this show could have been so much more but wasn’t.Here are the 5 points to note from this weeks Smackdown -

#5 Neville is still awesome

This was another episode of a main roster show where Neville gave a stellar performance. Nothing is guaranteed in the WWE but they have done a good job of making his gravity defying skills get imprinted in the minds of the casual audience. Neville, right now, may be the most exciting high flying performer to watch and given his great reputation with the hardcore fans, it seems he has a promising career to look forward to.

The only question that remains is when will Neville get a chance to speak.

#4 Confusing times

As this show was held in England, Bad News Barrett’s arrival to the ring was obviously good news for the English. He played a babyface and it wasn’t like the roles were reversed between his opponent and him. His opponent was The Miz, who’s a heel, a really good heel that too.

Later on, in the night there was match between Natalya, Alicia Fox and Cameron. All three of them, last time I checked, were heels. Natalya, though, here was more like a babyface and then later on in the night, on the same show, Natalya played the heel as she’s part of The Brass Ring Club.

Confusing times, certainly.

#3 A Bray Wyatt Sighting

Bray Wyatt has been missing in action since the past many, many weeks. He has been giving his promos, without fail, every week but it has been a long time since we saw him wrestle in any of the live shows or television. He didn’t wrestle, understandably, during the build up to Wrestlemania and then he suffered an ankle injury.

So it was a bit momentous to see him on Smackdown, working a match.

Other than that, if the reports are true, his promos where he mysteriously addresses superstars, may play a regular part in his gimmick.

That’s promising.

#2 Far, far away from the Brass Ring

The Brass Ring Club may be the most ironic name the team of Tyson Kidd and Cesaro could have been given. Both of them are immensely talented and many have questioned, over the years, the way these two have been utilized or rather under- utilized. These two, despite their talent, are way away from grabbing the proverbial brass ring. The higher ups, it seems, will never let them get near it.

This week on Raw, they lost to Randy Orton and now on Smackdown they lost in a match that was mostly forgettable.

#1 A Daniel Bryan Sighting

For more than a couple of weeks, the only talk around Daniel Bryan is that he was hurting. This comes as a major concern to the WWE and his ardent fans as he had just recently recovered from a severe neck injury. This also came around the same time when WWE was slammed with lawsuits over injuries by former talents. This seriously brought into question the treatment of employees’ health by the WWE.

So, it was great and a bit unsettling at the same time to see Bryan appear on television. His time in the ring during the main event was, then, understandably limited.

Let’s hope Bryan gets the time to recover fully from nagging injuries.
