WWE SummerSlam 2014 : 5 problems WWE should solve before the pay-per-view

The assessment of how well WWE books their superstars is often exposed when it nears to a big pay-per-view in the calendar and it is no different with Summerslam around the corner. While the company is gearing up to deliver a grand show at the Staples Centre, there are many flaws which still haunt them and give the fans something to jeer about. With Battleground not reaching the expectation levels, the pressure has doubled on the creative team to make something happen at the pay-per-view.A slip could prove costly for the company at this stage of the year and here is a look at some of those flaws that they should try to rectify before preparing SummerSlam to be the best pay-per-view of the year.

#5 Bray Wyatts run without wins

Bray Wyatt is arguably the best gimmick that WWE has had in their recent history. He is a total package in this generation of the business and looked set to take over the main event scene in the company.

The feud presented to him also suggested the same, but the only problem with Bray right now is that he is not getting credible wins to back up the things he say. Every time he gets a microphone in his hand, Bray talks captivating things but it hasn’t materialized into the results that the fans expect.

He is currently projected as a loud mouth that is weak without his allies and the crowd chants have started to hint that he is slipping down.

It’s a situation that the company needs to address as soon as possible since Bray is one of those superstars who shouldn’t be ill managed.

#4 Relevance of United States title

Back when WWE had the United States title on Dean Ambrose, the fans were asking to take it away from him as it was wasted without being defended.

This made the company take away the title from Ambrose and put it on Sheamus, pushing him like a fighting champion that Ambrose never was.

This soon cooled off and Sheamus was going after the WWE title and Intercontinental title while the US championship lost its importance.

Also, there have been no moves to unify both the midcard title which has made the situation worse. A big pay-per-view like SummerSlam cannot be complete without the united state championship and the writes should start to think about giving Sheamus some opponent soon.

#3 Hesitance of pushing new tag teams

The lack of depth in the tag team division has been a big problem for the company after WrestleMania.

Before April, the roster had the lights of Shield, Real Americans, Rhodes Brothers, Prime Time Players, Usos and Wyatt Family and now only the final two remain in the roster alongside a rebranded Rhodes Brothers.

There are a lot of midcard names and Tag teams in NXT who could solve the situation but something has been holding the company back from cashing in on these possibilities.

Usos going against Wyatt Family once again might not be tolerated by the fans though they have been consistent so far. WWE should look ahead of SummerSlam before making a move as the fans are still pretty much interested in seeing some good old tag team match.

#2 Ambrose being over than Rollins and Reigns

Roman Reigns was expected to be the breakout star from Shield but when the trio broke up, Dean Ambrose turned out to be the surprise package by surpassing his former teammates.

Now, there is nothing bad about Ambrose being over with the fans and he truly deserves it. However, one thing WWE should do to make sure his steam doesn’t cool off is to book him like a fan favorite.

At this moment, Ambrose is getting a booking that WWE used to give their midcarders back in the old days. There are already criticisms suggesting that WWE doesn’t hear their fans and not giving Ambrose a good backing would further fuels these accusations.

Giving him a pay-per-view headlining match or money in the bank briefcase would be ideal moves to solve the situation and put Ambrose more over.

#1 Length of Lesnars run in the roster

The battle between Brock Lesnar and John Cena for the WWE championship will be the poster match for this year’s SummerSlam. There are rumors floating around that Lesnar might win the title from Cena to back up his win against Undertaker at WrestleMania.

There is a sense of unpredictability in this match despite these rumors but the fans are concerned about Lesnar having the title.

This is due to the fact that Lesnar is a part-timer and while there are deserving regular names in the roster, someone like Lesnar coming in and having a short reign wouldn’t be appreciated.

The root of these concerns is the length of Lesnar’s stay in the company. If he is going to stick around till the end of the year or beyond that, a title change would look good. On the other hand, Lesnar might turn out to be the next Batista.
