WWE SummerSlam 2014: 5 things that should happen at the pay-per-view

After witnessing how Battleground unfolded, the WWE Universe is more than sure that they will be getting a better show at SummerSlam. Most of the matches that went down at Battleground look set to be replicated at the pay-per-view on August 17 while there is a need for the company to have better booking decisions so that they dont end up being red faced.Pulling off a big-four pay-per-view has always been a tough task to perform and this wont be anything different. However, there are certain things that the company can do to reach the expectation level of the WWE fans.

#5 Brie Bella beating Stephanie McMahon

Just when the WWE fans started to think that Brie’s departure was real, the creative pulled off a big surprise by letting Bryan’s wife get one over Stephanie.

Apparently, this was only the start of a potentially long feud between the two that looks all set to culminate in a match between the two at Summerslam. The match wouldn’t be one of those classic ones as Stephanie would be full of ring rust.

Brie is also not known for her in ring work but the angle has a lot of heat which would be enough to keep the fans entertained. Stephanie getting beaten up is one of the most anticipated things for the WWE Universe and the best place for that to happen would be SummerSlam.

#4 A Daniel Bryan segment

A few months back, the WWE fans would’ve never imagined a Summerslam without their favorite underdog, Daniel Bryan. But, some twists of fate have left Bryan in the hospital bed while the WWE have their big pay-per-view without the flying goat.

Bryan might not be fit enough to have a wrestling match at SummerSlam, but the company could easily have him deliver a promo so that the WWE universe could chant their hearts out.

It would also keep Bryan relevant in time for his return while there would be no danger of him stealing the limelight from other matches.

His presence is going to add more star power to the show which might also boast of names like Hulk Hogan and Ric Flair apart from the star studded match card.

#3 Midcard title unification

This is one angle that the WWE have been teasing from the start of the year. However, for one reason or the other, this was put off by the creative team who stuck with two titles in a midcard which was limping without rooted storylines.

The phase after SummerSlam is usually a refreshing period for the company and one thing that they could do for that is to unify the two midcard titles.

Unifying the title is sure to make the midcard more exciting as many superstars would be fighting for that one opportunity rather than having the “I’ll get a shot at the other title if I lose this” attitude.

A lot of names could benefit from this situation while Sheamus and Miz are great candidates to make the match happen.

#2 A gimmick match between Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins

The way in which these two were booked at Battleground ensures the fans a credible match between the two at SummerSlam. The company might’ve felt that a pay-per-view like Battleground was too small to hold a match like this which is not the case with SummerSlam.

Though the two are almost certain to face off, one thing that the company should do to raise the stakes is to add in some stipulation under which these two could flourish.

WWE fans are well aware of the fact that both Ambrose and Rollins are willing to put everything on the line to give an entertaining match and for that; they should be given the right circumstances.

Hell in a Cell or a street fight would be an ideal scenario for the duo and would carry the hype of a pay-per-view like SummerSlam.

#1 Brock Lesnar winning the title

After ending the Undertaker’s streak back in April, Lesnar returned to the WWE this week and has his sights set firmly on Cena and the WWE title.

This is simply the biggest match that WWE could’ve put forward to main event SummerSlam with the resources that they had. Both Lesnar and Cena are multi-platform superstars and have all the ammunition required to draw fans.

With that said, the expectation levels for the match are sky high. WWE cannot afford to take a bad step here which makes Lesnar’s win imminent. Cena retaining the title would devalue everything that the Undertaker built for two decades.

The man who ended the streak losing the next match he competes in wouldn’t go down well with the fans considering how much heat the WWE felt after WrestleMania.
