WWE SummerSlam 2014: 5 things WWE can do to ruin the pay-per-view

Messing up pay-per-views has been WWEs hobby for some time with Battleground being the latest and most painful addition to that list. The reason why it turned out to be painful was because it was the supposed to be a curtain raiser for SummerSlam. The company has been trying to pick up themselves from the mistakes they made at Battleground ever since but hasnt closed all the loop holes. Some storylines havent been brewed properly while others have beenWith just two weeks away from the pay-per-view, WWE is still on a desperate run to keep the buy rates up and here is a look at some of the things that WWE should avoid if they dont want the fans asking for a refund.

#5 Having No Plan B for Stephanie McMahon vs. Brie Bella match

The company is so high on the feud between Stephanie McMahon and Brie Bella that they let the two divas headline their flag ship show. There was no lack of emotions in the segment that these two had and managed to keep the fans intrigued about the whole thing.

Despite the huge buildup that the match will get, there are certain factors which suggest that the match might end up being a disappointment.

First of all, Stephanie hasn’t wrestled for ten years and might be carrying ring rust than anyone else on the roster. Brie on the other hand is not Daniel Bryan to carry her opponent throughout the match.

This calls for a backup plan from the creative team that might steal the headlines if the match ends up being disappointing.

A turn from Nikki Bella is rumored to be a possible outcome and the company could also have Triple H and Daniel Bryan in the mix if they want to. Not using any backup plans on the other hand would prove costly and waste a well plotted angle.

#4 Dropping the Divas championship match due to AJs injury

AJ Lee’s injury struck everyone like a lightning just when WWE was gearing up to deliver a credible divas match at SummerSlam.

Her status for the pay-per-view is still up in the air and if AJ doesn’t make it, WWE might just decide to drop that match since they have the Stephanie – Brie match to represent the division. This however could be a bad booking decision.

First of all, Paige is someone who deserves to be in SummerSlam for the efforts she has been putting in. AJ’s absence should keep Paige and the divas title away from the pay-per-view as it would underline how they treat their divas.

There are talented names like Natalya, Naomi, Alicia Fox and some others who could fit into the pay-per-view for a match with Paige if the company vacates the title. AJ could resume her battle with Paige once she returns rather than just letting SummerSlam pass by.

#3 Letting Kane skip the pay-per-view

For the past few months, Kane have been in the main event scene of the WWE pay-per-views. This however doesn’t reflect the luck that he had during the period.

First Bryan’s injury forced Kane out of the title picture and landed him in the Authority angle. There also Kane was overshadowed by the lights of his opponents and was often used to put over others.

After the fatal four way match at Battleground, WWE chose to go with a Randy Orton- Roman Reigns match at SummerSlam leaving Kane’s status unsettled. The company is yet to give him a feud heading into the pay-per-view and not letting Kane make an impact would raise eyebrows.

He should be involved to an extent in the match between Reigns and Orton as it opens up the opportunity for either Orton or Kane to turn face and let Reigns go against Hunter.

#2 Not adding any stipulation to Ambrose vs. Rollins match

The match between Ambrose and Rollins hasn’t been made yet from the company despite being this close to the pay-per-view but it is sure to be added sooner or later.

It didn’t happen despite being advertised for Battleground and this has raised the stakes higher for their eventual meeting. WWE has built up the match well so far with Rollins being the guy with everything to lose and Ambrose, the one who would go to every extent to get the job done.

The lunatic fringe has made headlines for breaking the rules and the match would end up being botched if WWE wouldn’t let him open up completely.

A match confined with rules wouldn’t suit the amount of emotions that this match carries and it’s something that the company needs to sort out before they confirm the match card.

#1 Brock Lesnar winning the title

If you though Cena being the champion is bad for business, well then imagine a champion who will not show up every week, a champion who can’t speak on his own, a champion who won’t wrestle on anything less than a pay-per-view.

A champion who wouldn’t face anyone other than an established star, a champion who closes the door for a possible money in the champion, in short, imagine Brock Lesnar as the champion.

It would be a disastrous move from the company to keep the title on Lesnar for whatever time he is staying with the WWE and the title stint that Rock had during one of his short runs.

Lesnar losing would also be a bad decision to an extent since he is coming off a big win against Undertaker at WrestleMania. It’s a messy main event to be precise and hopefully WWE would come out alive from it.
