Top 10 most impressive physiques in WWE history

The muggles who doesn’t tune into professional wrestling might see it as a fake drama where body builders fight each other in minimal clothes. Well, there have been a lot of discussions about the ‘fake’ part of that statement, so let’s take a breather and concentrate on the body building part.To get the facts right, wrestlers come in all shapes and size. The days where WWE relied on just big men to draw the crowd are long gone. However, it doesn’t hold back the wrestlers from having a good physique. Over the years, the WWE Universe has seen a lot of well-toned superstars gaze the squared circle and here is a look at the best ones.

#12 Honorable mention: Beth Phoenix, Natalya, Lex Luger and David Otunga

Before we get into all those male superstars in the list, it would only be fitting to take some time out to appreciate Beth Phoenix. The typical WWE divas boasts model like bodies and curves, but Beth was different. At the same time, she did not reach the extreme level of Chyna. It was a perfect blend of power and beauty and she deserves an honorable mention.

Natalya was some sort of a mirror image of Beth Phoenix and broke the usual traditions of how to look like a diva. Lex Luger on the other hand was pushed as the perfect package. His body was his best ammunition and the same applied for David Otunga.

#11 Honorable mention: John Morrison

John Morrison wasn’t necessarily big but his body felt like a well cut out piece of art. Instead of playing it up with his size and dominance like most of the other superstars in the list, Morrison had a mix of athletic and body building physique.

He had the quickness of a cat and the looks to go with it. His career in the WWE however didn’t produce many memorable moments despite the immense amount of potential.

Morrison is having a great run down in Lucha Underground right now and if he decides to come back into the WWE anytime soon, it will be a good deal for both parties.

#10 Brock Lesnar

Brock Lesnar has a habit of tearing apart his opponents and it’s his imposing size that helps to sell the gimmick easily. Lesnar has a crazy combination of power and size to his name and knows how to put all these advantages to good use.

He started off as an amateur wrestler and then made it to WWE, where he was pushed to the moon in practically no time. The dominating size also helped Lesnar to try out his hands in NFL before settling down in MMA.

And when Lesnar returned to WWE after a long gap, he hadn’t missed a beat and is still one of the best toned superstars in the current roster.

#9 Goldberg

Piling up a winning streak of 173 matches is an impressive feat even though the wrestling matches are scripted. Goldberg getting such a big push during his WCW days was purely because of his charisma and the physique because he was not at all a great wrestler.

His move set was limited but Goldberg has the physique to stand out as a babyface monster. His tackling skills from his footballing days helped in the wrestling career as well when he took up Sphere as his finisher.

The WWE run didn’t do any good for Goldberg but since we are talking about impressive physiques here, Goldberg should be in the list not matter how bad wrestler he was.

#8 The Ultimate Warrior

From one bad wrestler to another, Ultimate Warrior was a cult figure back in the Golden Era. He did not have the best of wrestling skills just like Goldberg but due to the energy that he bought into the wrestling ring, the fans loved him.

Warrior had two stints in the WWE and in both cases, his physique made everyone drool. In fact, the well-toned body was reasons why he didn’t have a trouble getting over back in the days.

The unique face paint and the streamers added to the already impressive body and without much effort, Warrior set a benchmark for wrestlers who wanted to look ripped in between the ropes.

#7 Batista

Batista is one of those superstars in the list who had a body building career before professional wrestling. His body building phase came at the WCW power plant but WCW refused to sign him up claiming that he didn’t have enough potential.

WWE on the other hand did not show any hesitation before signing up the Animal. With his size and power, Batista soon started climbing the ladder.

After a run with Evolution, Batista had a main event run as a singles wrestler before leaving WWE to pursue a career in acting. He will be seen in the new James Bond movie and there to, it will be Batista’s physique that will capture the eyes.

#6 Scott Steiner

Every wrestling fan would have dreamt of having biceps like Steiner. He looked like a true freak of nature and a sure shot winner if you were playing the WWE trading cards.

The fans did not stand up and took notice of his physique during the WCW days but once Steiner came down to WWE with the big poppa pump gimmick, he was ripped to the core.

He has had a lot of botches during his career but Steiner will always be remembered as a muscular freak that had the biggest biceps in wrestling. And also who can forget his bicep kissing taunt that we have used many times.

#5 Triple H

Triple H ranks in as one of the most successful WWE superstars and he looks set to go into the books as a successful promoter as well. Having such consistency in the wrestling business is an achievement that deserves appreciation and Hunter did all this while maintaining a credible body.

He has the sort of physique that might not look like a big deal on the first look but trust me it is. Hunter’s recent appearance in the cover of magazines shows how he is still maintaining the physique despite not being active in wrestling.

Hunter looks all set to step back into the squared circle at WrestleMania and he is sure to steal the spotlight with the way he looks.

#4 Rick Rude

Rick Rude had arguably ‘the’ most chiseled physique in the WWE history. He was pushed as the Ravishing Rick Rude and there is a reason why the company decided to give him the ravishing tag.

He had the looks which were incredibly hard to ignore and at the same time, he was known for being disgusted by anyone who was not physically good as him. The robe, designer shorts and eight pack abs all were simply perfect for the ladies and at the same time made the men jealous.

Rude had a tough time breaking it into the main event scene and becoming a major star but as far as his physique is concerned, he was one of the best.

#3 John Cena

John Cena might be the face of the WWE at the moment but his resume includes a column which says ‘failed bodybuilder’. Before trying his luck in the wrestling business, Cena was into body building but it didn’t work out as he planned.

The hard work he put into making his body look good in his body building days however, did wonders for his wrestling career. Though he doesn’t have the best wrestling skills in the business, no one can take away the sheer amount of strength that Cena has.

He is still going strong in the company right now and works out hard on a daily basis. Even if you are a Cena hater, you cannot simply ignore the amount of work he puts into maintain his body.

#2 The Rock

Is it even possible to make an impressive physique list without including the Brahma Bull in it? Rock, apart from being one of the best talkers in the business knew how to carry around his body.

Rock was never known for his physique during the early days but as years went by, he began attracting fans solely based on how hard he hits the gym. Once he left the wrestling business for the Hollywood career, the intensity of his workout probably doubled.

Rock has a better physique now than ever and has gained a good amount of weight as well. His wrestling days might be behind him but let’s keep the hopes high about the same.

#1 Vince McMahon

Okay, this is sure to be a polarising choice to top the list but think about it. Vince McMahon is 69 years old and still has a better physique than most of the active roster. Being the owner of a professional wrestling promotion, one has the freedom of not getting into the ring.

But despite this freedom, Vince always chose the other way around. And instead of just coming out looking like a corporate Chairman, he came out looking like an actual wrestler with a well-built body.

A few years back, it wouldn’t have been a big deal to see Vince tear his shirt but at an age of 69, it is indeed a big achievement. Just to get the gravity of things, Vince is older than Arnold Schwarzenegger and is more fit than the terminator.
