Top 10 wrestling bloopers on live TV

They all screw up once in a whileUnlike in Hollywood, professional wrestlers don’t get second takes. Ever since the concept of live television began in the industry, replacing the old system of taping shows and then showing it on TV several days later, the performers have had their work cut out for them. Even the minute error is highlighted during live shows, and ever since the internet wrestling community took shape, every performer has been under the scanner, and the smallest of mistakes are subjected to mockery and become infamous as vines. However, there have been several instances when the performers managed to find themselves in uncomfortable predicaments, and weren’t fortunate enough to escape from the fans’ ridicule. In this article, we see 10 such instances when the performers were involved in bloopers on live TV.

#10 Mike Adamle introduces Jeff Harvey to the WWE Universe

What happens when you’re not articulate enough to be an announcer and not talented enough to be a commentator in the WWE? As Mike Adamle found out, you get to be the on – screen General Manager of the A – Show! Mike Adamle received flak from the wrestling fans all over the world for not knowing the history of professional wrestling, and for constantly botching his words on – screen.

Mike Adamle made his WWE debut at the 2008 Royal Rumble, and immediately found himself on the internet messaging boards, but not for the right reasons. During his very first night as an announcer, he mispronounced Jeff Hardy’s name, calling him “Jeff Harvey”. Needless to say, the fans were relentless while mocking Mike Adamle.

#9 Booker T says the N word

Booker T was always a passionate performer, and was one of the top WCW performers in the company’s history. Booker was also phenomenal on the microphone, and was undoubtedly destined for greatness. But all of Booker’s accomplishments will forever be overshadowed by one mistake he made during a promo during his time with the Harlem Heat.

Booker, while delivering a passionate promo, name dropped Hulk Hogan and claimed that they were coming after his title. Had Booker left it at that, it wouldn’t have created any fuss. Unfortunately, the five time WCW champion went one step further, calling Hogan the N – word. Needless to say his immediate reaction to the mistake was priceless, while Sensational Sherri couldn’t control her laughter.

#8 Sid Vicious forgets that hes on live TV

Sid Vicious was never the most articulate speaker and neither will he ever win the award for the greatest talker in the business. Although Sid was a monster of a man and was talented enough to headline PPVs for the WWE, he was never a great mic worker. It came back to haunt Sid when during a backstage interview, Jim Ross addressed the skeptics, and asked Sid what he thought about the naysayers.

Initially, Sid fumbled with the word “skeptics”, and asked Jim Ross if he could do it again, to which Jim replied, “We’re live pal”. Once again, a few seconds’ botch ultimately became an internet sensation, as the fans found one more reason to poke fun at Psycho Sid!

#7 Bobby Heenan drops the F bomb

Bobby Heenan is undoubtedly one of the greatest managers/commentators in the history of the business, and “The Brain” is universally loved and adored by the wrestling fans. His amazing sense of humor and the ability to make anyone hate his character made him one of the greatest heels in the business. His partnership with Gorilla Monsoon made the duo the greatest play – by – play/color commentator team in the history of the industry.

Heenan also had to undergo various neck surgeries, and during the Clash of the Champions PPV in WCW, Brian Pillman unknowingly laid his hands on Heenan’s neck. There was a strict “no touch” policy in WCW regarding Heenan, and Bobby, not realizing that it was Pillman who was behind him, thought it was a fan and yelled “What the f*** are you doing?” into the headset. This was heard by fans around the world, and Heenan later apologized on the show.

#6 Batistas warm up is interrupted by a fan

Before the fans turned on Batista and started calling him “Boo-tista” or “Blue-tista”, he was over with the fans during his face run, while also winning the World Heavyweight title from Triple H at WrestleMania in 2005. Batista’s trademark entrance and his shaking of the ropes as a tribute to The Ultimate Warrior were some of the most mimicked moves by the wrestling fans around the world (We know you’ve tried them too).

During an episode of RAW, while Batista was warming up, a fan sneaked in and mimicked Batista’s entrance, along with the sounds of the pyro going off, before he was chased off by security. Incidentally, it was also captured by the cameras, and even Batista himself couldn’t help but stare and smile at the incident.

#5 Scott Steiners promos

Scott Steiner has the largest arms in the business, and he won’t miss a chance to tell you that. Scott is notorious for his short temper, and has made many rivals in the business with his attitude. Scott Steiner with a microphone however is worth every penny the fans pay for, and not because he can set the stage on fire with his verbiage. Scott’s incoherent rants and nonsensical logic has made him a favorite among the internet wrestling fans.

Almost all of Scott’s promos make very little to no sense, and his time with TNA gave the fans many other instances to witness his verbal prowess. His rant on Samoa Joe was priceless, especially how he mathematically deduced that he had more than 141% chance of beating Samoa Joe in a match!

#4 Michael McGillicuttys genesis

youtube-cover

Honestly, I’m a fan of Curtis Axel. He has a lot of talent, and is one of the better workers in the organization. His inability to work the microphone has worked against him, and has played a part in Axel not living up to his potential. Axel performed on NXT Season 2, and it was then that he came up with an absolutely comical promo that has since graced every wrestling forum on the internet.

When Matt Striker asked the then Michael McGillicutty what was going through his mind, perhaps the best thing he could’ve done was to tell Matt that he wasn’t thinking of anything. Instead, Michael tried to tell the fans that it would be the genesis of Michael McGillicutty, but ended up giving the fans another instance to ridicule the son of the legendary Mr. Perfect.

#3 Shock Masters electrifying debut

If there ever was a way to destroy your career, Shock Master proved just how it can be done. In what has gone down as one of the greatest bloopers in the history of the business, Shock Master was supposed to make an impactful debut, but he fell flat, quite literally.

Sid Vicious was supposed to find Sting’s and Davey Smith’s mystery partner, and when Sting introduced The Shock Master, he tripped and fell through the cardboard, while Davey was heard saying, “He fell on his arse!” Davey could be heard laughing in the back, while Sid Vicious to his credit kept a straight face. Needless to say, Shock Master didn’t quite shock the wrestling fans in the way WCW would’ve wanted.

#2 Vince McMahon tears both his quads

youtube-cover

The 2005 Royal Rumble will be remembered for a lot of reasons, particularly the way the Rumble ended. Batista was supposed to win the Rumble match clean, but due to a botch by both competitors and the referees, Cena and Batista both fell out of the ring at the same time, forcing the WWE and Vince McMahon to think on their feet. Unfortunately, that didn’t end too well for the chairman of the company.

Vince strutted to the ring furiously, but while entering the ring, he tore both his quads, and had to sit on the mat while trying to make a decision that would alter the company’s direction. Although everything worked out well in the end, the expression on Vince’s face was priceless when he realized that he had just tore his quads while sliding into the ring!

#1 Hulk Hogan has words for Vince McMahon

youtube-cover

Hulk Hogan is arguably the greatest WWE superstar in the history of the company, and single handedly made WWE what it is today. Hogan was also a great talker during his prime, and gets the better of everyone. During his feud with Vince McMahon a decade ago, Hogan was supposed a cut a promo about how Vince couldn’t stand the idea that Hogan popularized the WWE, but that soon turned into a promo for the ages!

Instead of asking Vince if he thought he was the right guy at the right place at the right time, Hogan botched his lines, and asked Vince if he thought he was “the right gay”. Everything worked out well in the end, as Hogan beat Vince McMahon at WrestleMania later that year, but that Hulk Hogan promo will be remembered for a long time to come.

What makes Sting special? His first AEW opponent opens up RIGHT HERE.
