WWE Top 5 Rumors of the Week and Analysis : 21 December, 2014

Another week passed by in the wrestling business and as usual, it was full of rumors which ranged from utterly ridiculous to ‘you must be kidding me.’ The aftermath of TLC was there to be seen all over the WWE programming but still, the fans saw it far inferior to the NXT Revolution. There is apparently a lot of frustration in the backstage and the main roster about NXT being a better product and most of this week’s speculations were well rounded around this factor while the closeness to WrestleMania and Royal Rumble also added them into the list.Other perks here and there served for the rumor hungry fans this week and here is a look at the best ones from the lot and their possible impact.

#5 John Cena leading a protest in favor of Triple H

We already touched the topic of the main roster superstar being frustrated about how NXT is doing well and all of them are apparently calling for a take over from Hunter. There was a lot of silent protest in the backstage against Vince McMahon’s current reign and how he ran things while Triple H was getting all the plaudits for NXT.

Recently, John Cena rallied the troops and held a talent meeting to address the matter according to a rumour that came by this week. He suggested that the WWE superstars should show their protest in between the ropes and not through silence.

If this is true, then Vince’s days on top of the WWE might soon come to an end with the dream scenario of Triple H taking over coming true.

#4 WWE wants to build Sheamus as the next Brock Lesnar

Lesnar’s contract with WWE running out in a matter of months is not a big secret and the company is making some prerequisite measures to make sure that they will cope with the exit.

They have apparently asked the merchandise team to stop making Lesnar merchandises and concentrated on Sheamus. This is also believed to be WWE’s idea of building up Sheamus as the new monster heel in the company after Lesnar’s exit.

The Celtic Warrior and Lesnar might be poles apart from a certain angle, but on the bigger picture, there isn’t a much better choice than Sheamus to fill in the void that will be left by Lesnar if WWE doesn’t renew his contract after WrestleMania.

#3 John Cena to defeat Brock Lesnar cleanly at Royal Rumble

This rumor might make a lot of sense after going through the last one. WWEs hesitance to push Lesnars merchandize is due to the beasts contract running out soon and this might also serve as the reason for a Cena win at the Rumble.

Cena and Lesnar have faced two times in their current feud with both those matches going in Lesnars favor. Another win for the champion will make it 3-0 for Lesnar and Vince McMahon wouldnt want someone to bury his top face just like that.

Cena winning however raises a lot of questions through to the WrestleMania period as the possibility of a Lesnar vs. Reigns match is scraped off and instead we might get a Cena Reigns showdown.

#2 Ortons opponent when he returns

Orton was actually slated to make his return at TLC but was swapped with Roman Reigns in the last minute. The Viper however is expected to make his big return soon on Monday Night Raw and he will be put into a program with Kane rather than going straight at Seth Rollins.

This makes no sense considering that it was Rollins that took out Orton out of action, but since WWE wants to make Orton look strong before the Rollins showdown, the Kane angle might just be the best path.

Kane’s recent dominance against Adam Rose is also for the same purpose and we could expect some match between the former allies down the road to Royal Rumble.

#1 Sting likely to be at Royal Rumble

Sting left everyone scratching their heads after Survivor Series as he didn’t make any appearances to explain his actions at the pay-per-view. A lot of fans have the idea that Sting’s contract will only make him appear like how Brock Lesnar appears and that turns out to be a true fact.

However, the fans need not wait much to see Sting again in a WWE squared circle. The WCW icon is expected to return at Royal Rumble or before that in some capacity.

There are no hints dropped on what program Sting would be involved in, but the most likely angle is him facing Triple H at WrestleMania. On the other hand, there are also talks of Sting being a surprise entrant in the Rumble and making it all the way to face Lesnar.
