WWE Top 5 Rumors of the Week and Analysis: August 31, 2014

The usual dose of medicine for the rumor hungry fans out there is here and just like always there are some rumors ranging from utterly ridiculous to ‘Wow that should happen’ levels. The Night of Champions being WWE’s next pay-per-view outing contributed a truck load to the rumors as there were many matches yet to be sort out. TNA took a back seat amidst their negotiations with Spike TV but made their presence felt here and there.Ambrose was another big protagonist as his absence is making headlines in the internet. Almost all the rumors were too good to keep out of the list but apparently there is only space for the top five speculations and here is a look at what all filled those spots this week.

#5 Reigns vs. Triple H for Survivor Series

The idea of Roman Reigns going against Triple H was out there in the internet from the start of 2014. It got stronger when Evolution was reunited to take out Shield but the one on one angle barely made any progress.

SummerSlam was the dream location for the match to take place but Hunter decided to take a day off there while Reigns had to take out the Viper.

Night of Champions is not apparently having the match on the card as well making Survivor Series the next possible pay-per-view. The WWE is letting Reigns get some momentum before this big clash and will need the time till Survivor series for that.

If the rumor comes true, WWE will be having one big program for Survivor Series making the show interesting already.

#4 Dean Ambrose not considered as a main eventer

All three former members of the Shield are held in high regard by the WWE Universe. Reigns is considered to be the next big thing that could fill in the void of Cena while Rollins is compared to lights of Shawn Michaels.

Ambrose on the other hand was one of the most underrated stars while the stable was together. However once the team fell apart, he even drew comparisons with Steve Austin.

The fans are simply high on the lunatic fringe and he is one of the most over faces in the roster at this moment.

However, the creative team doesn’t consider Ambrose to be a main event star. He is only considered to be an upper midcarder and would get the same treatment after his feud with Rollins gets wrapped up. To keep it short, this could be the biggest blunder of the decade from WWE if it’s so.

#3 Batista to have retirement match at WrestleMania 31

Batista wouldn’t be having fond memories of his last spell in the WWE as he turned out to be ‘the’ most hated superstar both inside and outside the squared circle.

He then went on to get critical acclaim for the Guardians of the Galaxy and fans might be a bit toned down on the animal. This is the ideal setting for him to return but Batista is not happy about the way WWE is planning to book him.

The schedule and booking privileges that will be presented to him when he returns has made Batista back down a bit on the idea of wrestling again.

The latest rumor is that, he might not come back to WWE on a part time schedule but would wrestle a retirement match at WrestleMania 31. It is a bit too early to comment on this one but looks to be a good decision now that he has a foundation in Hollywood.

#2 Cena is banged up

Being the face of WWE is not an easy task. There are a lot of commitments that needs to be completed and these are sure to take a toll both physically and mentally.

Cena has been in that seat for more than a decade now. His tight schedule has started to suck the life out of his career as he is rumored to be banged up physically.

It was a ruthless destruction by Lesnar at SummerSlam and the word around the block is that Cena is working matches through a lot of pain. He is having problems with his neck and shoulder but refuses to take a lighter schedule.

This news probably should be an eye opener for every Cena hater out there who thinks that he is having the easy route as the face of WWE.

#1 Brock Lesnars future

Lesnar won the championship at SummerSlam and lit fire to a new era in the company. Initially it was believed that he would be dropping the title to Cena at Night of Champions but the way in which Lesnar is over with the fans has forced WWE to think otherwise.

Though the title changing idea for NOC is still around there, the latest idea is that Lesnar would be turning against the Authority which ensure him holding the title all the way to WrestleMania 31.

Triple H and his wife might be all set to turn face and align with Roman Reigns to end Lesnar’s reign if WWE is going forward with the idea.

This angle will surely get a lot of attention from everywhere and WWE will have Reigns refined as the new mainstay in the championship scene.
