WWE Top 5 rumours of the week: 26 July, 2015

Sting

John CenaIt has been an eventful week in the professional wrestling business. Undertaker made a triumphant return to the scene at Battleground and went on have a big brawl with Brock Lesnar on the night that followed. But the brilliant edition of Monday Night Raw was overshadowed by Hulk Hogan’s racism controversy.WWE’s reaction to the same has made the fans go chaotic and it is not going to cool down anytime soon. Amidst all of this, the rumour mill had some interesting speculations. Sting’s appearances at SummerSlam, huge title change plans, and a possible ending for the Undertaker vs. Lesnar match at SummerSlam were some of the major rumours this week. Here is a look at the top ones from the week and their analysis.

#5 Sting to be involved in Tag Team match at SummerSlam

Sting

Sting’s involvement in SummerSlam has been subjected to a lot of speculations. All of those could be put to bed soon as he is expected to be involved in a Tag team match at the pay-per-view. Sting is likely to join hands with Roman Reigns and Dean Ambrose in the war against Wyatt Family. The idea of putting Sting alongside Reigns is to protect Reigns from getting jeered by the fans.

At the same time, Sting would act as a big draw for SummerSlam even if he will have a laid back performance amidst the youngsters around him. One problem that WWE is facing right now is the injury of Erick Rowan and that apparently gave rise to another rumor this week.

#4 New member for Wyatt Family

Bray Wyatt

The original plans for SummerSlam were to have a six man tag team match between Wyatt Family and Roman Reigns, Dean Ambrose and Sting. However, the plan came crashing down when Erick Rowan picked up an injury. WWE is currently looking for a third member for the Wyatt Family but does not have many choices at their disposal.

Ascension is a real possibility but then again, the team is way too buried to be in a major feud and WWE will have to look for some alternative. The decision on the same would be made in the coming weeks and hopefully they won’t screw it up.

#3 Huge Title change in plans

John Cena

From the looks of it, John Cena is all set to be pushed into the WWE championship scene. A match between Seth Rollins and Cena at SummerSlam would be a great move, but WWE will have to keep the United States Championship away. And they have a plan for the same as well.

WWE is going to have a huge title change in the coming weeks where John Cena will drop the title to Kevin Owens after interference from Seth Rollins. It would be a great deal to see Owens get the title and at the same time, it would add more meaning to the Rollins vs. Cena feud that WWE is going to have for SummerSlam.

#2 Candidates to replace Hogan on Tough Enough

Hulk Hogan

WWE has lost almost $50 Million due to the Hulk Hogan controversy and they are currently in recovery mode. WWE is replacing Hogan in everywhere possible and Tough Enough is all set to go through the exact same phase. There are a number of names being tossed into the mix for replacing Hogan and the leading candidates are Ric Flair and Mick Foley.

In what proved to be a surprise, the name of Miz is also being mentioned somewhere. WWE is expected to make the decision after this week’s Monday Night Raw and will probably release a statement about the Hogan situation on the same day.

#1 Ending of the Undertaker vs. Lesnar match at SummerSlam

Undertaker

We already had a look at the possible ways in which the Undertaker vs. Brock Lesnar match could end at SummerSlam. And WWE might end up choosing one of those endings. The current plan is to end the SummerSlam match in a controversial manner so that WWE could have a big match between these two at next year’s WrestleMania.

A disqualification or interference is the most probable endings for the same and even if WWE doesn’t pull it off, Undertaker is definetly going to get his revenge. He will eventually win a match against Lesnar at SummerSlam or WrestleMania depending on what WWE wants.
