From the Evolution days itself, Batista was destined to make it to the top one day. And for that day to come, Batista had to break away from the shadow of Triple H.

In 2005, the Animal went on to win the Royal Rumble and had the chance to challenge one of the two champions in the company. Triple H and JBL were the choices that Batista had and though Hunter wanted it to be JBL, Batista had other plans.

He turned face on decided to give thumbs down to his mentor, Triple H. Batista built up a lot of momentum heading into the WrestleMania main event. Though it was not the best technical match on the card, the narrative drove everything forward and made sure that it pleased the fans.

Undertaker returned to action after a four month hiatus only to be interrupted by a returning Triple H. The tension was pouring in the segment and the fans knew what the WWE was planning for WrestleMania.

The match was made official in no time and to add more depth to the concept, the topic of Shawn Michaels was bought in perfectly. Due to the personal layer that was added, WWE decided to go with a No Holds barred match.

Once the starting bell rang, it was an all-out war. Plenty of false finishes and two counts kept the fans on the edge of their seat. In the end, Undertaker made Triple H tap out with the hells gate and after the match; Undertaker had to be carried away to the backstage, which then lead to another clash between the two.

So WWE added Hell in a Cell and Shawn Michaels into the scenario. Considering the relationship that Michaels had with Taker and Hunter, he was surely going to be the deciding factor of the match.

The in ring action was top notch as expected. The see saw match Michaels knock out Taker with a Sweet Chin music as well. In the end, Taker laid out Triple H with a tombstone piledriver and made his streak 20-0. The post-match scene was emotional as all three superstars went on top of the stage and embraced, marking the end of an era.

#1 Triple H vs. Shawn Michaels vs. Chris Benoit (WrestleMania XX)

Quoting Chris Jericho, It’s unfortunate that the match has been buried forever and technically doesn’t exist anymore. Despite being almost a decade, this match is still a bar setter for all the triple threats out there.

Hunter was the reigning champion back then and was having an epic feud with Michaels on road to WrestleMania. At Royal Rumble, both men wrestled in a last man standing match which ended in a draw.

On the other side, Benoit went on to win the Royal Rumble match making it a three way battle for the Championship. The match was a fairy tale run from the start itself and the climax where Benoit won proved to be just perfect. But then again, as said earlier, it’s too bad that the match doesn’t technically exist anymore.
