For everything you thought could happen but won’t happen, it happened! It was a spectacle nonetheless. This wasn’t a PPV reserved for the faces to come out triumphant. This was a hardcore fans fantasy with a dream sequence of Sting making his debut in the WWE ring, with the Undertaker coming back to the place where he belongs, to Brock Lesnar coming off to a roaring welcome - something very poetic. The last time his contract ended, he was booed out of the arena at Wrestlemania XX. He was welcomed like a king should. The fans were beyond happy to see him at Wrestlemania and knowing that he’ll stay in the WWE for the next three years. But what happened during the main event shocked everyone, maybe even pleasantly so. Here are the five talking points from the most talked about PPV ever in the WWE.

#1 The Other Young Lion

Just like that, a suplex, an F-5, some blood and the torture began. No dimension of the ring was left uncovered.

Boos, more boos for a fighting Reigns. A mere suplex, one of the most basic moves in wrestling, receives a standing ovation from the audience when Lesnar does it. Reigns was smiling. Reigns went a bit Jon Moxley there. He demanded to be slapped more.

A ‘Let’s go Roman’ chant chimes in and then Lesnar is busted open. He’s down but not out. No way. The beast is still reigning strong. This is the young lion vs the Beast and it had been awesome so far.

Blood, superman punch, another punch, another one, a spear, another spear. Kick out. Still awesome.

But it all got better once Rollins’ music hit.

For every wrestler, there is something absolutely special about winning the World title - the biggest prize in wrestling. The emotion that follows the victory is very much real. Kevin Nash said that at the Hall of Fame and as a fan you will believe it.

Wrestlemania ended with Rollins stealing the victory, cashing in his contract, a first for Wrestlemania and then taking all of the glory expected for his brother Reigns away from the Samoan. Just like that

#2 The gun slinger still owns the town

Undertaker entered the stadium to the Deadman’s tune but dressed like the American badass gimmick. He looked jaded, he looked old. But he is the Undertaker and just one move is enough to get the crowd to pop.

Be it rising like the Deadman as opposed to Wyatt’s exorcist/spider walk, setting up for the chokeslam or the Tombstone Piledriver - he owned the platform which is the testament to his storied career.

The Deadman has been resurrected. Sure that glaring one in 22 and 1 is a nagging reminder but still ‘22’ still sounds legendary.

#3 Making it Legit

The Intercontinental Championship match set the perfect platform for a spectacular night. It started with chaos and the usual unsuccessful climb on the ladder to grab the title. But then when one Holy$#!t moment occurred, all hell broke loose just as fast as a falling house of cards.

Stardust got suplexed from the top of the ladder, Ambrose broke into a ladder, crunching, twisting and turning. Bryan and Ziggler went into a head butt frenzy and then Bryan started Wrestlemania the way he ended last years mania - A champion.

Cena, entered with an air of American righteousness. But that role fits his virtuous character so well.the exaggerated form of heroism is so essentially American. Rusev’s entrance was great, better than Cena’s by a mile. But he lost by pinfall for the first time. But his streak wasn’t the talking point of the night.

Daniel Bryan and John Cena justified reports and became holders to the secondary titles. Expect more legitimacy to those titles.

#4 The Great One and The Queen of The Octagon

The Rock returned by interfering Triple H and Stephanie’s ride through Narcissism road. It all seemed like a build up to Wrestlemania 32 between two former rivals but it was just a build up for the awesomeness, the unpredictability that followed.

Time went back and Stephanie turned into the brat from the 90s but added all the heel wisdom she gathered over time. She slapped The Rock and dared him to hit her - a woman. She emphatically went on to order him to get out of the ring. Rock seemed to comply only to get Ronda Rousey to the ring.

Rousey stood face to face with the heel magnet Stephanie McMahon. This seemed more awesome than the nostalgia factor between Triple H and Rock.

The exchange that followed between the women was just the perfect gathering storm

Stephanie put her over in great measure.

“Ronda is the most dangerous unarmed woman in the world.”

Oh yeah!

“She’s the queen of the octagon.”

Darn right!

“I will never dare to face her in the UFC”

Real humble, Stephanie!

“But this is the squared circle. This is my ring”

There’s the heel magnet, about to verbally tear Rousey down

“Enjoy Wrestlemania like a nice little fan, and get the hell out of ring”

Oh no she didn’t. But she so did!

But then Rousey came out with an equalizer

“Stephanie, you don’t know. Any ring I step into is my ring”

Too much badassery.

Rousey gave Stephanie quite a scare after locking her arm but did not proceed to show that UFC aggression. Is there a future match out there? That’ll be crazy awesome.

#5 Did we really need that handshake?

For all the hype around, for all the nostalgia, for all the dream sequences, this match was a spectacle. In a match that had two elaborate entrances, a mammoth interference by NWO and DX, a sledgehammer broken in half by a bat and a 56-year old being as awesome as ever, the match just got better with each passing moment.

In what could only be a consequence of being in the Reality era, Triple H, the authoritarian heel extended his arm for a handshake and then Sting, the Vigilante super- babyface, shook it. It was mighty fun, nonetheless.

Later on in the night, HHH and his wife went on to gloat about that victory and more.

One of Samoa Joe's colleagues had harsh words for him HERE
