WrestleMania 31: 5 Things that should happen at the pay-per-view

The Levi Stadium in Santa Clara is all set to witness WWE’s biggest event of the year. We are only a handful of weeks away from the extravaganza and though the fans are excited about the pay-per-view, WWE will be sweating a bit in pressure. They are going through a nightmare phase when it comes to pay-per-views and the recent outings have been below the expectations of fans. WWE will have no intention of continuing that run at Mania because of the sheer importance of the event. To make sure that their 31-year-old baby doesn’t bomb, there are certain things that the company should do at WrestleMania and here is a look at them.

#5 Include a NXT Match

NXT is the best weekly show that WWE produces, period. With a plethora of hungry and talented names in the roster, NXT has managed to shed its image of being a developmental territory and now has the capability of standing alone as a brand.

With that said, it would be a big mistake if the WWE doesn’t include a NXT match at WrestleMania. Though the Internet wrestling fan community is well aware of what the guys in NXT can do, the mainstream fans still have no idea about the same.

Letting the NXT superstars steal the show at WrestleMania would change this situation and expose their talents on a much wider platform. A Championship match would be ideal or including the superstars in Andre the Giant battle royal would also work.

#4 Give Divas a chance

The situation of WWE divas did improve a bit on this week’s Raw and the credit goes to the Social Media movement which urged the WWE to give the girls a proper stage.

Instead of just limiting the concept to weekly shows, WWE should take it to a much larger stage like WrestleMania. The Divas were treated as nothing more than toilet breaks in the past few editions and WWE could change the pattern this year.

Paige and AJ Lee are the prime suspects to deliver a solid bout and filling in the Bellas amidst these two could work as well. Having a parallel storyline for Natalya and Naomi could work as well to spark the movement.

#3 A clean win for Rusev

One of the most talked about matches heading to WrestleMania will probably see John Cena and Rusev as protagonists. WWE is yet to make the match official but from the looks of it, there isn’t an alternative path for the superstars so there you go.

Now booking the match would only be half the job done. What WWE needs to do is shed off their usual tactics and book Cena as a clean loser. The Rusev-Cena battle will be built up as a patriotic affair by the writers and Cena losing in such a situation is unlikely.

However, for the sake of Rusev’s future, WWE should let him get a clean win over the Cenation leader. For Cena, it might just be a loss but for Rusev, it would be a career maker.

#2 Seth Rollins Money in the Bank Cash In

The biggest headache for WWE heading to WrestleMania will be the main event. Brock Lesnar and Roman Reigns will be fighting it out for the championship and WWE is in a deadlock when it comes to this match.

They cannot simply let Lesnar win the match due to his contract running out on next day. And at the same time, letting Roman Reigns win could be met with unpredictable fan reactions. WWE would not want to risk the moment of Reigns being ruined by jeers so the best thing they could do to put Reigns over is bring in Rollins into the picture.

If Rollins comes in and cashes in his contract on Reigns, the attention would immediately shift on him and Reigns could get a lot of sympathy. Going up against a credible heel like Rollins will do Reigns good on the longer run, making this a great booking decision.

#1 Vince McMahon should announce retirement

Vince McMahon’s days as one who runs WWE should come to an end at the earliest. His recent decisions are all over the place and the fans have been calling for his retirement for quite some time now.

Since WrestleMania is all about giving the fans what they want, Vince should just come out at the pay-per-view and announce his retirement. When Vince steps down, it opens up the door for Triple H to step in. Hunter has proved his worth running WWE and seeing him on the top is sure to make the fans happy.

WWE is known for working around the WrestleMania date. So from the night after WrestleMania, it could mark the start of a new era, the era of Triple H in the WWE.
