WrestleMania 31: Early match card predictions

WWE pulled of a WrestleMania which was exciting and disappointing on equal levels last week. Daniel Bryan getting the win and Cesaros big push fell on the bright side of things while Cenas win and the bad booking of Shield fell on the dark one.The ending of Undertakers streak was definetly a tragic moment for most of the fans but on the longer run, it may end up as a good decision which leaves it on the fence.Well as they say, past is past and WWE always have a history of making up for the falls they took. And though the next WrestleMania is a whole year away, the battle line wouldve already started to rise in the minds of the creative team.So here is a look at how they could make the fans happy by booking one great card at next years WrestleMania.

#12 Honorable mention :

Legends Match: Rock vs. Steve Austin

#11 Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal

After having a successful match this year, it is most likely that the WWE is going to make the Battle Royal and annual event to get everyone on the card and give on special guy a great push.

WWE could simply throw in everyone that wouldn’t have a place in the card elsewhere and give someone the spotlight like they did with Cesaro this year.

And to add more into the match the WWE could also make it a title rather than a trophy which could change hands every year at WrestleMania.

#10 Big E vs. Alexandre Rusev (Intercontinental title and US title Unification match)

It’s a shame that Big E got such big push prior to WrestleMania and didn’t even find a chance to defend his Intercontinental title. And Rusev on the other hand is placed for big things.

Rusev might soon get a title and the United States title is his shot since it’s been wasted on Dean Ambrose. And assuming that Big E has the Intercontinental title at time of WrestleMania what WWE could do is book a unification match.

Rusev and Big E will have great place in the card and the match will leave a lasting impact since one title is always better than two when it comes to the midcard.

#9 AJ Lee and Paige vs. Trish Stratus and Lita

For this to happen, first the WWE needs to convince Trish and Lita to make one last appearance in the squared circle. And if it happens, it’s going to be a passing the torch moment in the Divas division.

Trish and Lita were two divas around whom the WWE built up the division in the Attitude Era and from the looks of it; they are going to do the same with Paige and AJ Lee in the current generation.

With AJ and Paige having the entire in ring and off ring skills to go with it, none can question that decision as well. But the chances of them having a yearlong feud are really slim making it a necessity for WWE to find them a new challenge in WrestleMania.

So having two hall of famers fight it out with the new breed will be the idea that could make the divas division a real deal at the event.

#8 Rob Van Dam vs. Rey Mysterio vs. Bo Dallas vs. Sami Zayn vs. Adrian Neville vs. Dolph Ziggler (Money in the Bank match)

The Money in the bank match is something that all the fans miss at WrestleMania. The good old times when six men used to fight it out for one chance to make it big was something which gave us Goosebumps.

And now that WWE doesn’t have a big draw like the Undertaker’s streak at the pay-per-view they should bring back the Money in the bank. With only one title at the company, the value of the briefcase will soar to unprecedented height as well.

As far as the contenders go, veterans like Van Dam, Mysterio and Ziggler will complement the upcoming talent and make sure that they have some great WrestleMania pops. Anyone other than Van Dam and Mysterio could win it as well and have a great push in the process.

#7 The Ascension vs. The Usos (Tag Team Championship)

After breaking up almost every team in the roster, WWE are left with a Tag team division which has no real threat to the champions. However, what they have at their disposal is these talented guys from NXT who call themselves the Ascension.

With the Undertaker like creepy charisma, Ascension could easily take over the Tag team division and give the champions a run for their money.

If the WWE doesn’t manage to sign up some great tag teams in time for WrestleMania, this might be the match we will be bound to see.

The Ascension could get their moment at WrestleMania marking the start of their career which is bound for greatness.

#6 Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose vs. Batista and Randy Orton

The battle lines between the Shield and the Authority was drawn on the Raw which followed WrestleMania XXX. And one development which came out of the same night was the great chemistry that Orton and Batista had teaming up together.

Both superstars looked like they were better off teaming up than going on singles run. And it won’t be a surprise if WWE decides to stick them together till next year.

And having a great heel team at their disposal, WWE could pit them against the Shield and make it an exciting match.

It won’t hurt if Orton and Batista take the fall as well since Rollins and Ambrose got something bigger for the long run.

#5 Undertaker vs. Sting (Double Farewell match)

It’s a match that the WWE fans have been drooling over for almost a decade now. And owing the fact that the WWE didn’t give Taker a fitting farewell, this match may materialize.

Getting Taker out for one last match will clearly be a big draw for the pay-per-view and also making it Sting’s last match will surely blow the roof off. Its definetly not going to be a great wrestling match, but the emotions alone will make it a big hit.

Two legends bowing it out will ring around the mind of the fans for a long long time and no matter who wins or losses, it’s a match that could leave everyone crying.

#4 Cesaro vs. Bray Wyatt

Paul Heyman and Bray Wyatt fighting it out in the microphone, the scene itself is enough to make this a feud that could rule the road to WrestleMania.

Add in a bit of Cesaro’s talents and Wyatt’s unorthodox style into the mix and we have a potential show stealer in our hands. Since, the company is high on both the superstars; the WWE Universe will have a tough time predicting this one as well.

Heyman’s presence like always will add the extra spark into the whole thing. It’s going to be a verbal treat at all levels and the two men would also follow up with a great match in the ring as well.

#3 Triple H vs. Shawn Michaels

A major portion of the WWE fans still believe that Shawn Michaels hanged up his boot very fast. And despite him having sporadic appearances here and there, what we really want from Michaels is one last match.

And there won’t be any better opponent for him than his best friend.

The last time these two were in the ring we saw Michaels kick the hell out of Daniel Bryan and he showed no signs of ring rust whatsoever. The buildup could revolve around a feud between Vince McMahon and Triple H or Hunter pitting out his ego and saying that he was always the better guy in DX.

It could lead to a great feud culminating in an epic encounter to give Michaels a farewell match that many have been waiting for.

#2 Roman Reigns vs. Brock Lesnar (World Heavyweight Championship match)

With Lesnar having an elevated place in the whole wrestling paradigm, one can only assume that he is going to win the title soon.

And along with that WWE is yet to make it one title after unification which opens the door for the creative team to split it up anytime they want. One year will be a long time for Roman Reigns to stamp his place as a big dog as well.

WWE could make Reigns win the Royal Rumble and have him face Lesnar for the title and give us a new star who will belong to the lights of all the big names.

Getting Reigns a win over Lesnar will be the best thing WWE could do with him and for the fans, the wait will finally come to an end.

#1 CM Punk vs. John Cena vs. Daniel Bryan (WWE Title Match)

No matter how hard one argues, this is where John Cena belongs and same goes for Punk.

Though the fans have started to forget all the hype about Punk returning, one year is indeed a very long time in the professional wrestling world and Punk well might be in the roster when WWE prepares for WrestleMania XXX.

And having three big names in the main event fighting it out for the title will be something which would cap off the show in style. Since all of them have great chemistry between them, it’s also bound to be a memorable match.

Even if WWE doesn’t manage to get Punk onto the roster, they could also go with a Bryan vs. Cena match which would be interesting as well. But Punk, Bryan and Cena will make the show worth watching.
