WrestleMania 31: Superstar Ratings for the Pay-Per-View

WrestleMania is the stage where every professional wrestler wants to shine. It is the stage that a wrestler dreams of when he or she starts his wrestling career and reaching there is only half the job done. Grabbing the opportunity at WrestleMania is what sets boys apart from legends and just like all the previous editions; WrestleMania 31 was a proving stage for the same.Almost all the superstars came out with their best guns blazing at the pay-per-view and while some failed to live up to the expectations, some others exceeded it. Knowing who shined and who failed is a crucial factor before the post – WrestleMania period and here is a look at just that, with the Superstar ratings for WrestleMania 31.

#16 Big Show 5.5

I’m still scratching my head thinking about why WWE chose Big Show to win the Andre the Giant Battle Royal. Show had no momentum whatsoever heading into the match and he will have nothing big in the future as well. It will go down in history as a wasted opportunity and WWE might regret their decision in the near future.

#15 Bellas 6

Bellas were showered with criticism from all the sides for not being excellent workers in between the ropes. But the fact is: they are trying. The sisters have shown some great improvement over the past few months and even though they lost the match at WrestleMania, they should be happy with the effort.

#14 AJ Lee and Paige 6

AJ Lee and Paige have been the pillars of Divas Division for the entire year and they deserved their win at WrestleMania. Both Superstars managed to put their friction aside for the match but we are sure to see another feud between AJ and Paige in the weeks after WrestleMania. Till then, take some time to appreciate Paige for what she has done during her one year stay in the main roster.

#13 Rusev 6

Rusev’s unbeaten run in the main roster is no more and it is probably the beginning of the end. The post –match argument between Lana and Rusev might lead up to a break up between the two which in turn would act as the final nail in the Bulgarian Brute’s coffin. He is probably going to end up like all those anti – American heels in the past so enjoy him while he lasts.

#12 Sting 6

Sting’s debut was something that made us wait for more than a decade. Everyone expected him to walk out with a win but that wasn’t the case at WrestleMania 31. Sting lost out to Hunter and was made to look weak at various parts of the match. His baseball bat getting one over Hunter’s sledgehammer was probably the best moment for Sting but nothing else worked for him as he was overshadowed big time by the overbooking.

#11 Cesaro and Tyson Kidd 6.5

The tag team championship match being relegated to the pre- show was a big disappointment. However, Cesaro and Kidd retaining the championship are going to work wonders for them. They now have a lot of momentum for the post – WrestleMania period. Cesaro getting the limelight at Andre the Giant Battle Royal was also a great move by the WWE.

#10 John Cena 6.5

Cena is the new United States Champion, let that fact sink in. It was certainly not a fan favorite ending from the WWE but we can’t change the booking now can we? The bout was typical and predictable and though Cena won the match, it was nowhere near his best outing at WrestleMania and should have been better.

#9 The Rock 7

The Rock might not be active in between the ropes for WWE but he hasn’t missed a beat when it comes to his microphone work. The fans were hot right from his return and he managed to keep them entertained throughout the segment with some witty lines and the usual catchphrases.

#8 Bray Wyatt 7

The Eater of the Worlds was assigned with a tough job for WrestleMania 31. He had to make Taker look strong and at the same time had to save his face as the new fear. After all the one sided build up, Bray had his WrestleMania moment with Undertaker and though Bray lost, he could be proud about his efforts at the pay-per-view.

#7 Triple H 7

The match between Triple H and Sting as a whole is worth remembering but when we take individual performances, it was nothing special. WWE probably wanted to protect their aged superstars and played he cards safe for it. Hunter will now have a lot of criticism for ‘burying’ Sting and WWE but it is a win for him nevertheless.

#6 Daniel Bryan 7

Every bump that Daniel Bryan took during the Intercontinental championship made the WWE Universe skip a beat. There were concerns about his condition throughout the match but all that went with the wind when Bryan stood tall in that ladder with the Gold in his hands. Bryan looks set to be a credible champion and thoroughly deserves to be one.

#5 Randy Orton 7

Orton looked nothing less than a man on mission. He proved to everyone why he is called a ring general and steered the match almost perfectly while Seth Rollins complemented. The win will be a big boost for the viper heading to the post –WrestleMania period and since he was made to look strong throughout the match, WWE might have big plans for him.

#4 Undertaker 7.5

When we saw Undertaker last year at WrestleMania 30, most of us concluded that it was going to be his last match. Taker’s physical condition was in such a bad state that we almost prayed for him to be okay after the bout against Lesnar. One year later, Taker comes back, steals the show with Bray Wyatt and makes it 22 -1, need I say more?

#3 Roman Reigns 7.5

Roman Reigns showed to the world that he could take a destructive beating and still stand up tall against the Beast. The fans were not at all behind him but Reigns delivered a solid performance and earned some respect here and there. He did not get his WrestleMania moment and it could affect his career adversely.

#2 Brock Lesnar 8.5

Brock Lesnar and WrestleMania is probably the best love story out there in WWE. Because even though he lost his WWE Championship, Brock was simply dominating. He dismantled Reigns throughout the match and was not pinned as well. There is still a lot to come from Lesnar and things are going to get interesting now.

#1 Seth Rollins 9

There wouldn’t have been many fans out there that expected Rollins to lose against Orton. Rollins was not desperate for a win like Orton but he needed it. The entire night turned upside down for Rollins at the main event when he decided to cash in. He proved to be the ultimate opportunist and ladies and gentlemen, Seth Rollins is your New WWE World Heavyweight champion.
