Two Indian boys Adhitya Raghavan in the U-17 section and Neel Joshi in the U-13 category moved into the quarterfinals while in the girls U-15 section, Navmi Sharma kept her hopes alive by moving into the pre-quarterfinal round in the ongoing British junior open squash in Sheffield, England.

The Indian participation in all other categoris ended in the face of the unstoppable onslaught of the Egyptian and English players.

The day’s pick for the Indians was Neel Joshi. The young lad, seeded 9/16 played with great grit to douse the aspirations of the second seeded Mohamad Mostafa of Egypt in five games. The near 50- minute fight ended in the Indian’s favour at 5-11, 11-4, 10-12, 8-11, 11-8.

Both Adhitya and Navmi Sharma showed resolve and purpose in adding some cheer to the Indian camp. Adhitya needed 34 minutes to local player Adam Corcoran 11-3, 3-11, 11-9, 11-6 while Navmi Sharma after a bye in the first round made short work of Emma Carney of USA 11-5, 11-1, 11-5.
