Australian Open: Joshana moves into last eight; Harinder and Mahesh crash out

Joshana Chinappa reached the quarterfinals

Only Joshana Chinappa showed form in right measure to remain undefeated as the quarterfinal stage was reached in the Australian Open squash 2015, a PSA tournament in Melbourne said on Thursday.

The sixth seeded Joshana did not face much problem against the 12th seed, Megan Craig of New Zealand even as she trailed by a game. But then her biggest test is next when she faces the top seed Annie Au of Hong Kong.

For the other two Indians, the common feature was the way the two fought to the take the contest the distance before bowing out. Seeded six, Mahesh Mangaonkar was two games up before he seemed to come in the way of a storm that Australian Steve Finitsis proved to be. Mahesh never recovered from that.

On the other hand, Harinder Pal Sandhu was up against the second seed Nafizwan Adnan of Malaysia. To his credit, Harinder did not give in easily sharing four games before succumbing.

The results:

(Second round):

Men: Steve Finitsis (Aus) beat Mahesh Mangaonkar 7-11, 4-11, 11-9, 11-9, 11-7;

Nafizwan Adnan (Mal) beat Harinder Pal Sandhu 11-4, 7-11, 11-4, 13-15, 11-9;

(Women):
