British Junior Open results, Sheffield (2-6 Jan’14)

A total 22 participants from India took part in this years event of which 4 players finished in the top 8.

Aditya Raghavan finished in 4th position in Boys u15 category. His big break came in his 3rd round match defeating higher ranked Marwan Tarek from Eng in 4 games. Adhitya went on to win his quarterfinal too but lost to top seeded Youseff Ibrahim from Egy in 4 games.

Kush Kumar the reigning u19 national champion defeated 2nd seed Shehab Essam from Egypt in an impressive straight game win in his 3rd round. In the quarter final, Kush lost to the eventual winner Ahmed Al Saraj from Jordan in a keenly contested 4 games. Kush won the remaining of his placing matches to finished in 5th place.

Tushar Sahani finished 7th in Boys u13. Having defeated higher ranked Mohd Hafiz in round 3, Tushar lost to second seeded Asser Hisham (Egy) in the quarterfinal.

Harshit Kaur Jawanda was the only Indian girl to enter in the quarter finals and finish in 8th position in the Girls u17 category.
