The Indian squash contingent at the ongoing Commonwealth Games in Glasgow has pulled off one of its biggest victories in its history till date.

Dipika Pallikal and Joshana Chinappa, the fifth seeds in the Women’s Doubles draw brought about the biggest upset so far in the squash event, bringing down the Malaysian pairing of World No.1 Nicol David and Low Wee Wern.

The Malaysian pair didn’t stand a chance against the inspired Indian pair who virtually mauled them into submission; winning the tie in straight games 11-8, 11-5.

This, however, was no fluke. The Indian duo had earlier this year beaten the duo during a tri-nation event held in Malaysia.

This win means that the Indians have now recorded two victories in as many matches to lead Pool D ahead of the Malaysians.

The win should go a long way in ending India’s long medal drought in the sport.

Nicol, a legend of the game had earlier retained her singles title on Monday.

The Indian pair are currenty playing against Kiwi pair Megan Craig and Kylie Lindsay of New Zealand in their final league match. You can follow live updates here.
