The US women’s relay team won the gold medal in the 4×100 freestyle relay in the 15th FINA World Championships for swimming being held here at the Palau Sant Jordi.
The US team finished the race in 3:32.31 minutes followed by Australia, who clocked 3:32.43 mins here Sunday, reports Xinhua. The Netherlands finished third at 3:35.77 mins.
Megan Romano, Shannon Vreeland, Natalie Coughlin and Missy Franklin swam under the time of 54 seconds each in the US team.
Australia won gold medal in the London Olympics and were commanded in Barcelona by Cate Campbell, who hold the best record this season.
