70th Senior National Aquatic championship 2016 set to be launched in Ranchi

The Swimming Federation of India and Jharkhand Swimming Association are pleased to announce that the Glenmark 70th Senior National Aquatic Championship will be conducted at the Veer Budhu Bhagat Aquatic Stadium, Mega Sports Complex, Hotwar, Ranchi.

The event would feature over 500 athletes from across the country vying for top honours in swimming, Diving and Water polo disciplines. The event will feature the top swimming talents across the country including Shivani Kataria and Sajan Prakash who represented India at Rio 2016. It is a proud moment for Jharkhand to host a prestigious National event which will help promote swimming in the state.

The opening ceremony of the Glenmark 70th Senior National Aquatic Championship will be held on 24 September 2016.

Glenmark Aquatic Foundation the CSR initiative of Glenmark Pharmaceuticals Ltd have entered into a long-term agreement with the Swimming Federation of India to sponsor national events. In addition to supporting the Championships, Glenmark Aquatic Centre runs a high performance aquatic centre in Mumbai and partners the Sports Authority of India at the National swimming academy at the Dr. S.P. Mukherjee Swimming complex at Delhi and has launched the SAI Glenmark Training Development and Management (SGTIDM) programme which is a full-time residential academy for swimmers.

As a part of expanding the swimming ecosystem in India GAF as a part of the SGTIDM programme would conduct a 2 day Camp for aspiring local swimmers and coaches on 29 and 30 September 2016. This camp would be run under the watchful eyes of Mr. Clive Rushton, Olympian and Technical Director, Glenmark Aquatic Foundation. The Camp will also help in scouting potential talent as well as providing education for coaches. GAF is also planning to launch nationwide Coach Education initiatives.

The event would be streamed live on YouTube on the Glenmark Aquatic Foundation channel and on the website www.glenmarkaquatic.org. GAF has tied up the CIALFO (SwimIndia), and all the Meet information will be available on www. Glenmarkaquatic.org and www.swimindia.in.
