19 June 2010, New Delhi: India duo of Sharath Kamal Achanta and Subhajit Saha continued with brilliant performance to enter into the semifinals of the men’s doubles category at the ongoing NCC Indian Open ITTF Pro Tour 2010 at the Yamuna Sports Complex in the capital. The event is being considered as a test event en-route to the XIX Commonwealth Games 2010 Delhi. Over hundred players from 13 nations are participating in the five day long event.

The Indian duo defeated their own countrymen Harmeet Desai and Devesh Karia by 11-8,11-8,5-11,10-12,11-4,11-8 to secue a berth in the semifinals. They now meet the Korean pair of Sang Su Lee and Hyun Deok Seo. The Korean pair too defeated their countrymen Young Sik Jung and Min Seok Kim by 12-10, 11-5, 10-12, 11-9 and 11-9. In the other important semifinal clash Ning Gao and Zi Yang from Singapore will face Sheng-Sheng Huang and Chih-Chi Wu from Chinese Taipei

In the men’s singles event the top Indian seed Sharatha Kamal Achanta continued with superb performance and secure a berth in the semifinals by defeating Young Sik Jung from Korea by 11-8, 5-11, 7-11, 11-7, 8-11 and 10-12. Achanta now meets tournament top seed Dimitrij Ovtcharov from Germany in the semis. Earlier the top Indian seed made it to the quarterfinals defeating the German peddler Patrick Baum in a close finish by 4-3 the sets points being 13-11, 11-13,11-7,8-11,8-11, 11-5 and 11-9.
In the women’s singles event Yi-Hua Huang from Chinese Taipei defeated Singapore’s Beibei Sun in straights sets of 11-7,11-6,11-6 and 11-9 to enter the semifinals. The other semifinals entrants are Mengyu Yu from Singapore who defeated Mi Soon Kang from Korea in straight sets of 11-6,11-7,11-7 and 17-15.In the women’s doubles the Semifinals will be played later in the evening where I-Ching Cheng and Yi-Hua Huang from Chinese Taipei will face the Korean duo of Ha La Cho and So Mi Nam. The other clash will take place between Jiao Li and Jie Li from NED and Korean duo of Ji Na Hwang and Mi Soon Kang.The finals for both Girls and Boys Under 21 category will be played later in the evening.
