BIO: East Bengal Football Club is an Indian I-League football club based in Kolkata, West Bengal. East Bengal was founded in 1920 in Kolkata and in 1996 became one of the first clubs to join the first ever National Football League in 1996. One of the most successful clubs in Indian football, it has won 3 National Football League and I-League titles and 8 Federation Cups. They are the current holders of the Federation Cup and the Indian Super Cup. The club made history in 1997 when they became the first Indian football club to join official Asian competition when they played in the Asian Cup Winners Cup. East Bengal has a long-standing rivalry with neighbours Mohun Bagan, with whom it contests the Kolkata derby.   The colours of East Bengal are red and gold. The home jersey consists of a red and gold jersey with black shorts and red socks while the away jersey consists of a white jersey and white socks and black shorts. Historically, the club has used several stadiums at Kolkata, Howrah and Barasat, including the Eden Gardens. Some of the club's best players include: Arnab Mondal, Naoba Singh, Jagpreet Singh, Lalrindika Ralte, Subodh Kumar etc
