BIO: FC Bayern Munich is a German sports club based in Munich, Bavaria.. It plays professionally in the Bundesliga and is considered as the most successful football club in Germany. The club to date has a record of twenty three national titles and fifteen cups to its credit. The club was founded in 1900 by Franz John who led a team of eleven football players. They won their first championship in 1932. But it was not until the year 1963, that they were included in the Bundesliga. Bayern Munich is the biggest sports club in Germany in terms of revenue. it is also the fourth biggest football club in the world, having generated €368.4 million in 2012. The club has other departments for chess, handball, basketball, gymnastics, bowling, table tennis, referees, and senior football with more than 1,100 active members.
The Bayern Munich's most successful period was during the 1970s. Under the sturdy leadership of Franz Beckenbauer, it won the European Cup three times in a row. Bayern has reached the finals of ten European Cup/UEFA Champions League. Recently, they have won five of the last ten Bundesliga titles, which gave them a title as the most successful club in German football.
