2014 French Open draw

The much anticipated draw for the second Grand Slam of the year is finally out!

Rafael Nadal, the 4-time defending champion will face American wildcard Robby Ginepri in the first round. He could potentially face Dominic Thiem in the second round.

The other players in Nadal’s half of the draw are Nicolas Almagro, Australian Open champion Stanislas Wawrinka, last year’s finalist David Ferrer, Andy Murray and Grigor Dimitrov.

World No.2 and a semi-finalist last year, Novak Djokovic will take on Joao Sousa in the first round and could face Marin Cilic in the third round.

Djokovic has won three ATP 1000 events this year including the recently concluded Rome Masters. He is aiming to win the only Grand Slam missing from his trophy cabinet.

The second half of the draw also includes 2009 champion Roger Federer, local favourite Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, Kei Nishikori, Milos Raonic, John Isner and Tomas Berdych.

World No.4 Roger Federer will look to add a second French Open to his impressive 17 Grand Slam titles. He faces Lukas Lacko in his opener.

The Australian Open & Monte-Carlo champion Stanislas Wawrinka starts his campaign against Guillermo Garcia-Lopez of Spain.

Briton Andy Murray opens against Andrey Golubev.

On the women’s side, defending champion Serena Williams will face Alize Lim in the first round. She could potentially face her sister Venus Williams in the third round.

The other top players in the first half of the draw are 2013 runner-up Maria Sharapova, Angelique Kerber, Flavia Pennetta, Dominica Cibulkova and Agnieszka Radwanska.

The Australian Open champion Li Na takes on Kristina Mladenovic in the first round. Li Na won this title in 2011.

The other top players in the bottom half of the draw are Sara Errani, Jelena Jankovic, Simona Halep, Ana Ivanovic and Petra Kvitova.

The No.3 seed Agnieszka Radwanska opens against Zhang Shuai. One of the consistent players on the tour, Simona Halep faces Alisa Kleybanova in her first round.
