'Rendez-Vous à Roland-Garros' will be held between April 1 and 4 at the Delhi Gymkhana club. Top 16 under -18 Indian male and female players will take on each other in a single -elimination tournament. Best of three tie-break sets will decide the winner of a match.

The winners of the Indian leg will head to Paris to compete with the champions from China and Brazil.

Krishnan recollected his memories of competing in the 1979 boys’ final at Roland Garros. He also felt that tennis should be popularised in the heartland more than urban areas for better growth.

Khanna said that there is huge potential for the sport in the country. Dartevelle said that it was just the beginning of the association between the two nations.
