Bangalore, April 18 (IANS): The top two seeds Dev Javia of Gujarat and S. Boopathy of Tamil Nadu set up a title clash in the KTPPA-AITA National Series Under-12 tennis tournament posting contrasting wins in the boys singles semi-finals here Friday.
Dev, with an attacking game, took in his stride the challenge of fourth seed Eshan Lumba of Maharashtra 6-4, 6-4 while Boopathy wore down a spirited third seed Mahesh Mohapatra (Orissa) in a three setter lasting close to three hours at 6-4, 3-6, 7-5.
In the girls singles final, top seed Mubashira Anjum Shaik from Andhra will meet Maharashtra’s Richa Chougule. Mubashira survived a scare as she dropped the first set before overcoming Bhakti Parwani (Gujarat) 5-7, 6-1, 6-1 while Richa accounted for another Andhra player Fathima Juveria 6-3, 7-6 (1).
Richa is in line for a double as she also won the girls doubles title partnering Prerna Vichare. The Maharashtra pair beat Gujarat’s Bhagya Gauri and Bhakti Parwani 6-1, 6-4 in the final.
