Federer or Nadal: Who will be the King of Clay?

With the French Open starting in just five days fans of Federer are once again left thinking whether he will be able to defend his title. Last year Federer won his first French open title, completing his record of winning all major tennis tournaments. Also equaling Pete Samparas’s record of 14 opens. After winning the Wimbledon last year and Australian open this year and raising the bar to 16 tournament wins, it is hard to write Federer off just yet.

It is definitely going to be an uphill task for Federer to defend his title with the likes of Rafael Nadal and Andy Murray at their supreme best, but no one can deny the class and elegance of Roger Federer.

Nadal has however not been in the loop of things for quite some time due to his knee injury. His loss to Robin Soderling last year in the fourth round of the French open came as a big surprise to all the tennis lovers, especially since Nadal was playing for his 5th straight French open title. This time around Nadal seems to be more then just fit and in for a real fight to win back what in every sense belongs to him. His form and swift moment around the court proved to be too good to be true in Madrid and certainly spread the word that “Nadal is back”.

It will be an interesting battle once again between the world number 1 Roger Federer and Nadal who slipped to world number 3 after his loss last year in the French open. However, he has gained his number two position after his victory at the Madrid masters. But, rankings have hardly mattered when these two player battle it out against each other. A match between these two is always worth the money, the entertainment and the time.

There is also a stark possibility that either of the two men may bow out even before the finals.

French open 2010 is back and Paris will be loaded with millions of fans. The clay court season has begun and with Nadal back in form we are in for a real treat, so sit back and enjoy the ride that begins 24th May, 2010.
