The 2002-born teenager will be among 4 players headed to London to compete

Tanisha Kashyap, a 14-year-old tennis player from Assam, will be among a group of Indian teenagers representing the country at Wimbledon this year. 2002-born Kashyap will compete in the Road to Wimbledon National Finals at Wimbledon in London to have a shot at a junior title at arguably the most prestigious Grand Slam on the tennis calendar.

Currently competing on the ITF circuit, Kashyap most recently played at an ITF juniors event in Indore, progressing to the Round of 16.

The youngster has been more successful in the doubles in her short career so far, and at the same event in Indore progressed to the finals in the women’s doubles. Partnered by the more experienced Baani Singh, Kashyap lost in the final round of the doubles in a very closely fought three-setter, the final set of which went to a super tiebreak.

Kashyap, Indian boys’ junior Dev Javia and two other players will be part of the Indian group at Wimbledon.
