Latest ATP Rankings: Somdev breaks into top 100, Yuki surges 190 places

India’s highest ranked men’s singles player Somdev Devvarman broke into the top 100, moving up three places to be ranked 98^th in the latest ATP rankings.

Somdev had advanced thirteen spots last week on the back of a second round finish at the US Open, where he lost to Italy’s 20^th seed Andreas Seppi.

The Tripura-born lad performed exceedingly well at the recent ATP Citi Open in Washington, where he upset defending champion and world number 25 Alexandr Dolgopolov of Ukraine in the second round, before being slugged out by the big-serving American John Isner in the third round.

Somdev also made it to the semi-finals of the ATP Nottingham Challenger. Earlier this year, he attained a semi-final finish at the ATP Caltanissetta Challenger in Italy, as well as a second round appearance at the French Open after going through the qualifying route.

Among the other Indians, Prakash Amritraj, son of the legendary Vijay Amritraj, slipped fourteen places to 277. Yuki Bhambri, who finished runners-up in the ATP Kaohsiung Challenger in Taiwan, after making it to main draw winning three qualifying rounds, surged 190 spots to placed at the 287^th spot.

Saketh Myneni, who won both the Chandigarh and Rohtak Futures earlier this year, fell seven spots to be ranked 321^st. Jeevan Nedunchezhiyan, who won the Coimbatore ITF Futures this year, dropped three places to 329.

Sanam Singh climbed thirty two places to hold the 343^rd spot. He had plunged forty places only recently. Vijayant Malik jumped twenty nine places to 417.

N Sriram Balaji, who won the Chennai ITF Futures this year, advanced eight places to occupy the 455^th spot. He had recently slumped 69 places last week.
