Mumbai, 27th March, 2014: Taking a cue from the requests by parents and students to watch Grand Slam champions Roger Federer, Novak Djokovic, Serena Williams, Maria Sharapova sweat it out in the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championship, the team at the Mahesh Bhupathi Tennis Academies (MBTA) is providing a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to young tennis enthusiasts by leading them across India to Spain to witness the Madrid Open, beginning 4 May, 2014. Apart from watching the world’s greatest in action, enthusiastic children will also get a chance to train at the same academy as their heroes from the sport.

The students taking part in the 8-day camp will be involved with orientation, training and practice sessions and have their skills tested through some match play/game specific simulations to perfect their techniques.

K. Shankar, the Director of Coaching operations and development, who had accompanied the students on the previous trip to Dubai was impressed with the enthusiasm of the children. “It was amazing to see how keen the students were to learn from every opportunity that was provided. Our aim was to provide them with international standard training facilities and see how it impacts their game, and the results we must admit were tremendously positive. The chance to see their heroes in action was obviously the highlight for them and a memory to treasure,” he said.

Gaurav Natekar, the CEO of MBTA added, “We at MBTA are always seeking opportunities to expose young tennis enthusiasts to the level of play and competition that would be expected of them if they need to go far in the game. It also provides a great deal of learning in a short period of time which is vital for their progress in the short term. We would love to see an increase in the numbers of participation this time around considering the extremely positive feedback that was received from the Dubai expedition.”

Designed along the lines of the Dubai expedition, where the MBTA students were also trained at the MBTA Center in the city by international coaches alongside children from various ethnicities, the Madrid outing will see the young tennis enthusiasts gain a practical perspective of the game at the highest level, contributing greatly to their development as tennis players.

“I am thankful to MBTA for taking this initiative and taking both my sons, Devansh and Laksh to Dubai to not only coach them but also help them build a mental temperament by exposing them to imbibe the best from the big, international tennis matches played out in highly competitive environment. I look forward to more such events because not only is it a learning curve but also is a very well planned and brilliantly managed trip,” opined Payal Bafna, whose sons were a part of the MBTA team that went for the Dubai expedition.

With so many young tennis enthusiasts enjoying the game at various levels, MBTA’s proposition to offer the students a trip to Madrid can help build their dreams and the future of tennis in the country.
