India's top Men’s singles tennis player Somdev Devvarman entered the second round of the 2014 Nielsen Pro Tennis $50,000 USTA Pro Tennis Championship, a challenger tournament. He beat American wildcard Jared Hiltzik 6-4, 6-2.
The sixth-seeded Indian took one hour and eight minute to overcome Hiltzik. This is the first tournament of World no 125 Somdev Devvarman after the first round exit of Wimbledon,2014. He faces American Austin Krajick in the next round.
Another Indian Sanam Singh fails to cross the first round barrier and bows out of the tournament. He was defeated by Takanyi Garanganga of Zimbabwe. Takanyi beat Sanam by 6-0,3-6, 6-2 in 1 hour and 29 minutes.
