Race to London 2014: Who will make the cut for the ATP World Tour Finals?

The race To London is going to go down to the wire.

The race to the ATP World Tour Finals is heating up as Andy Murray and David Ferrer are fighting it out for the 8th position in the live rankings.

Murray and Ferrer are both looking strong and playing well. They both overtook Milos Raonic yesterday, with Murray taking the 8th position and Ferrer the 9th position as Raonic was knocked out in the round of 16 of the Moscow Open. Interestingly, Murray and Ferrer are going to battle it out in the final of the Vienna Open with the winner taking the 8th spot in the rankings.

Murray has qualified for the World Tour Finals seven times in a row, and he definitely does not want to miss out this time. He has had an extremely poor season on court in 2014 and is looking to put his miserable form behind him with a win at the Vienna Open.

Ferrer on the other hand is definitely not out of the race as he had defeated Murray just 10 days ago in the Shanghai Masters, and will be looking to do the same in the Vienna Open finals.

Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer qualified quite early for the finals, and were recently joined by Stan Wawrinka and Marin Cilic. Kei Nishikori is looking strong and it looks like he is going to be the next on the list to qualify. The Japanese US Open finalist is currently fifth and needs just 425 points more to confirm his participation.

The race to the ATP World Tour Finals has never been this close and it looks like it is going to go down to the wire, with the tournament starting on the 11th of November at the O2 Arena in London.
