Rafael Nadal has won the Stuttgart Open by beating Viktor Troicki 7-6 (7-3) 6-3 in straight sets. The Spaniard, who dropped to World No. 10 in the rankings, became the only player to win the grass and clay titles at the Stuttgart Open in the process.

The former World No. 1 prepared for Wimbledon with this sensational victory over the Serbian to lift his first grass court title in 5 years. The Stuttgart Open, previously a clay tournament, was switched to grass this year.

In the first set, Troicki was spectacular with the serve, conceding just 3 points on his serve. However, Nadal got the better of the 29-year old in the tie-breaker winning 7-3 which started off with a blistering ace.

Nadal broke Troicki in the fourth game of the second set to take a 3-1 lead. Both players held their serve as Nadal maintained the advantage and sealed the tie in 1 hour and 27 minutes.

The Spaniard lifted the title for the third time, winning it before in 2005 and 2007.
