Sania Mirza feels that French Open is going to be the toughest slam for Santina

Sania Mirza and Martina Hingis have already got their 2016 off to a great start

Recently-crowned Australian Open doubles champion Sania Mirza has said that for herself and Martina Hingis, winning the French Open would be the toughest. The 29-year-old admitted that the clay was the hardest surface for the duo and added that they were working hard to try and win the ‘Santina’ slam.

“I hope that the chances are bright, considering we won the last three grand slams. But it is going to be our toughest Grand Slam to win. It is not our favourite surface. But we are doing whatever we can and hopefully we can get that ‘Santina’ slam, so to say,” Sania told reporters at the Hussain Sagar Lake in Hyderabad on Wednesday.

The Indo-Swiss pair have been on a roll since coming together just under a year ago, climbing to the top of the World Rankings in the Women’s Doubles and then winning both the Wimbledon and the US Open before ending the year by clinching ATP World Tour Finals in London.

The duo began 2016 also in fine fashion winning the Australian Open and looked set to break the world record for the most number of consecutive wins(44), but couldn't do so, losing in the quarterfinal of the Qatar Open, thereby bringing the successive streak of wins to a halt at 41.
